Desperate Advice Needed on Puppy Purchase.

We are in need of some advice, as to where we currently stand with regards to a Puppy purchase we have made.

I saw a litter of GSD puppies advertised on the Pets4Homes website, however due to the distance and having a son with Autism, who doesn't travel well, the breeder agreed that her friend would deliver at cost to us.

I asked all relevant questions (regards health checks, general health etc, I have attached emails which were exchanged at the bottom of post)
Since Pup has been with us (Saturday, 18th April) he has had nothing but Diaorrhoea. I took him to our vet yesterday, who have confirmed there is something not right and has put him on to a Chicken and Rice diet, a paste to try and make his stools a little more solid and some fluid so he doesn't get dehydrated.

I have tried to contact his breeder, twice by email and 3 times by phone and she is just completely ignoring my emails/calls!

Here are the emails;

ME:
Good morning *****
Just a quick query. Is there any way of you delivering pup for petrol/diesel money?
The only reason I ask, I have checked on Google Maps and your roughly 2 hrs from us, we live in ****** we have an autistic son who doesn't travel great distance very well.
I understand if this is not possible though.
Look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards.

BREEDER:
Hello, I could possibly deliver him tomorrow afternoon. Can you send me your post code so I can work out how much would it be in fuel money? Regards *****

ME:
Hi *****
Yes our postcode is ******
I am out tomorrow afternoon from around 3pm until 5pm (son at the opticians) but anytime before or after will be fine. Husband will stay with him if before anyway.
Many thanks, ****

BREEDER:
Hi,
I can't deliver the puppy, but I do have someone that can but needs paying for their time. It will be £50 for their time and fuel cost on top of that

ME:
Hello *****

Very concerned with our boy! Since Saturday he has had constant diarrhoea, which smells terrible! We haven't changed his food, we are feeding him Royal Canin Junior which you mentioned he was fed on with you?
I have got him at the vets this morning, to have him checked over, if it does turn out there is a problem, I will be requesting that we bring him back to you and receiving our £400 back as we have only had him 2 days.
We obviously understand puppies get upset tummies, but something just doesn't seem right.

I've had no response by email, nor will she answer her phone to me!

Can anyone tell me where I stand here and are we within our rights to take pup back and get our money back?

Thank you.

This is unbelievable, you are busy filing for bankruptcy and you go and buy a £450 puppy?

You really shouldn't buy puppy's in the way you have.

    The website states:-
NEVER buy a new dog or puppy without being able to visit it at its home. If someone wants to meet you and makes excuses why you cant go to their home, just walk away and report it to us.

There is huge uproar in Scotland about puppy farming this week after a BBC Scotland Documentary. I don't know if that is the case here but..........

I presume you paid cash so I suspect you will really struggle to get any resolution.

Yes Hintza I am currently filing for BR, I personally can not afford to pay my debts, my family purchased the puppy for me, to try and take my mind off things!!! Yes maybe they did the wrong thing, and all I am now trying to do, is get their money back, as I am in no position to be paying vets fees etc! Which is something I/family did not consider at the time!
I now know we shouldn't have had the puppy in the manner we have and it looks as though its been a costly mistake!!

We wormed him on Saturday, as the lady who brought him said he would need doing, as he was done 2 weeks previous.

Costly for you and even more costly for the poor dog.

Every respectable website gives loads of advice on how to buy a puppy and the one is question is no exception.
•NEVER make the decision to get a dog or puppy on a whim. A dog is a lifetime commitment and a lot of thought should go in to it before making the decision.
•NEVER buy a new dog or puppy without being able to visit it at its home. If someone wants to meet you and makes excuses why you cant go to their home, just walk away and report it to us.

I really think you will struggle to find any resolution (you might be lucky and the folk are just away) but you should be looking to your family for help here which should be getting the puppy well.

Once you have done that you will not be wanting to give it back.

I wish you luck and hope your puppy gets better soon and it has not got parvo.

You might be able to get help from the likes of the PDSA so perhaps you should contact them.

I know we need to be trying to get the puppy well and by all means If I was able to do this, I would! I am concerned myself he has Parvo, but the vet seems this isn't the answer, as he's eating, drinking and isn't lethargic.

Hopefully it might be something as simple as the delivery driver giving the puppy something to eat which wasn't really suitable for such a young dog and the effects of this are just taking a bit of time to pass.
It's also possible that it's stress related due to the journey, again, if this is the case, this is something that should clear up soon.

As your vet has checked for Parvo, he/she should have had blood work carried done to rule out any other nasty bugs and if all of this was clear, the problem might pass in another day or two.

Are you 100% sure that the puppy was given the correct dosage of the worming medication?
