I was in the supermarket this morning and saw these tins of oranges which you use to make marmalade - they were called Ma Made and were £1.14 each. You just add water and sugar and it makes 6lb of marmalade. It is made by Hartleys. I was really tempted to buy some as I love making jams and stuff and worked out that this would cost under £2 for 6 jars of marmalade, which is great, if it is nice. Has anyone ever used it and would you recommend it?

Yes, I've used it. Makes nice marmo, and I usually stir in a slug of whisky at the end before potting up

Yes I use it. Add a drained tin of value grapefruit and use the juice to make up the water - very good. And always sets - which is good for marmelade when you're starting out.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

I've used the tinned seville oranges to make marmalade and it is sooo easy. No fiddling about cutting up peel etc. It makes a lovely light coloured marmalade, just like the shops. I also make my own marmalade when sevilles come available. I buy a box, use what I need then freeze the rest. When you make marmalade using the frozen ones you don't need to defrost them. Just plonk them in the water and cook as you would if they were fresh.0

Yes I use it, usually do not add as much sugar as they say, makes slightly less but I like the less sugary taste.............it has more of a tang......like the idea of adding some grapefruit, will have to try that myself......September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

Made my first batch of this a couple of weeks ago. Very, very easy and nice marmalade. Definitely worth it!"Then, when every last cent

Yup! In the past I've used Ma-Made and it is great. I love the idea of adding grapefruit. The Tesco value would work well - cheap and sour....:p0

I use it too when we run out of the stuff I make with Seville oranges in January. Every time I use it, I think 'why did I bother cutting up all those oranges when this is so easy- it is just sliced Seville oranges so it isn't really cheating0

Hi,
I am thinking of making some marmalade with whisky for christmas - has anyone tried using MA-MADE (tinned prepared seville oranges I believe) - and more importantly, where can I buy it from now and how much does it cost?
I remember seeing it at the cash and carry when I was younger, but havent spotted it in a supermarket yet...
any advice appreciated
thanks,
