Your guide usefully includes a section "Annual vs single-trip policies – which wins? Well, it depends..."
The guide goes on to say that annual policies get relatively more expensive, so then they usually [my emboldening] only win if you go away three or four times a year or more.
In my case for a well-rated policy with higher claim limits, an annual policy added less than £100 to the premium for a single trip policy. That extra is less than a week's single trip cover in Europe, so I went for the annual policy.0
