From my experience they are usually the same questions for each ailment.
However, I recently tried a company that was mentioned on MSE (not this thread). They started asking for a list of medication, so it may be worth having this to hand when you phone up.0 -
Here is a link to their questions. You only have to declare conditions covered by these questions

I figure you wouldn't declare a previous broken leg or similar if now all fully healed...0 -
Yesterday I arranged a £25 policy with Staysure for a pre-existing coronary condition for a 5 day skiing holiday in Austria next month. I specifically said to the advisor that I was going skiing and he even offered me an extra package to cover ski damage etc. which I declined as I don't take my own equipment. On looking through the policy booklet today it looked like winter sports was not covered so I rang to check. Quite right! It's not covered! So I've cancelled the policy and have requested they listen to the phone conversation as they have wasted a considerable amount of my time. Total incompetence!:mad:0

I was trying to complete a medical questionnaire for a travel policy. I used cholesterol as my search term on the online form and the policy gave me the options of high cholesterol or cholesterol levels (together with 1 or 2 other options which aren't relevant to me). Has anyone seen this before or had it explained? I did ask my insurer but wasn't 100 % convinced by the reply that it might be less serious than high cholesterol. Whichever option I select, I am then asked whether I have high blood pressure to which the answer is no.
I wonder how many people do declare this. I have seen stats to say that around 75% of adults over about 45 have high cholesterol. The insurer which I tried says that you must declare it if you have EVER had it.
Also does anyone know why they won't let you get any renewal discount if you complete the medical form online? I much prefer doing it that way because I can see the questions before starting and do it at my own pace. I feel stressed doing it on the phone.
I have now been told by 1 insurer that 'cholesterol levels' is an alternative term used by doctors but another insurer didn't know the answer and just appeared to guess. That isn't acceptable.0 -
My parents are trying to get travel insurance to go to Portugal initially, but they would also like cover for cruise holidays, but for now would just be happy to get cover for their Portugal holiday.
They both have pre-existing conditions, Mum is able to get insurance, but this year my Dad will be 75 and it seems that suddenly he is being refused insurance or the premiums are extortionate, the companies seem unable to tell them why he is being refused - I assume it's just a case of "computer says 'no'" and the person on the phone doesn't know why, but they are wondering if it is due to his age as it's the only thing that has changed since last year.
They have tried comparison websites, and a lot of companies already. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks!0 -

No to both of the above. He does have pre-existing conditions to do with his heart and blood pressure, but nothing has changed since last year when he got reasonable insurance that included cover for a cruise.0
