magpiecottage, how does having PHI affect the mortgage PPI?
It depends. The problem is that although the PPI would probably pay out in addition it could cause the PHI payment to be restricted if it took the total ill health income too high.

However, it is possible to have PHI which only kicks in when the PPI ends - with a correspondingly lower premium.

    This is a misguided post.

It's really not. The reasons given would probably secure an uphold at FOS for loan or credit card PPI in the absence of any other evidence. Partly because banks record keeping for these generally non advised sales tends to be hit & miss. MPPI is a much more strong need for most mortgage borrowers (55% according to a study by the Association of British Insurers). In addition, it is usually retailed under an advice process, which typically has a much more robust audit trail.

@minichick, I believe my case was one the many taken forward by the FOS/FSA against the Yorkshire and Clydesdale Banks. l have today after nearly two and and half years recieved my offer letter, which is just £200 shyof £40k . They have been the paragon of obfuscation and delaying tatics, but I have prevailed.

Holy smokes, that is unbelievable! Well done. My OH was successful(really me on her behalf) second time round for loan PPI, they rejected us first time, and about a year or so later when they got hauled up by FOS, we wrote to them again and they found in our favour. I don't know if ours will get looked at again, but would be nice to get more out of them.
    Well done.
Thanks to all the competition posters.
  • clydesdale bank added ppi to loans/mortgages/credit cards/ but when i contacted them they told me as its over 7 years ago they have no details. i have no account numbers but i bought houses with them is this correct or are they just doing this to stop having to pay. help anyone
  • Hello,

This is my first post. It states on this site that everyone who applied for ppi refund before 2014 will be contacted automatically and that if you do not hear within a couple of weeks you should contact them.

I have heard nothing. The Clydesdale Bank was the only bank who turned down my ppi claim and I took it to Ombudsman who upheld Clydesdale Bank. Has anyone else heard anything who were originally turned down ?

    Thank you

I contacted them directly, they got back in touch saying what was mentioned earlier-they were looking at my case but that it could take up to 18 months to finalise due to the volume of cases, and that they would contact me with a decision.

No harm in contacting them yourself-see my post above.Funnily enough Clydesdale Bank were the only ones too who rejected my claim, and the Ombudsman also upheld their decision.
