Definitely the ex... I have NO idea how much he cost me but let's suffice to say he got the house, now worth at least twice what we paid for it so he's minimum £70k up - me? Oh I got all the expenses and debts... and you knwo what? I still say it was money well spent! Never seen the !!!!!! since! :rotfl:
Apart from that? Gym memberships I fool myself into thinking I'll actually use... I should know better! OH is trying to tell me I should go - but I'd rather walk my dog thanksbesides when I go to the gym then I don't have time to walk her properly so she becomes a menace and then she destroys stuff and the cost spirals

I joined the gym last year & went with my mate who makes Lennox Lewis look like a wimp! Only went 3 or 4 times as he really put me through it! Luckily it was a council run gym & only costs £22 a month with no membership fees. I am going to buy myself a few weights & an exercise bike after Xmas but will buy them 2nd hand out of the paper.Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. The list is endless but Skintt Catt reminded me of the £320 I paid for a correspondence course which was appaulingly out of date and hence I never finished. I should have complained and requested my money back but I never bothered. I wouldn't recommend ICS to anyone - certainly don't believe the adverts.
I suppose I could also add the £500+ I spent on gaining my AAT and then never using the damn thing, oh and the extra year I spent at college gaining my CIM (again never used), when I could have gone out and got a job and studied part-time. Hate to think how much that particular choice has ultimately cost me in lost wages.1st April 2008 challenge:mad: xmas overspend = [strike]£254.05[/strike] £0:j......cc1 = [strike]£240.78[/strike] £0:j .......cc2 = [strike]£667.47[/strike] £0 :j ...amount owed to ISA = [strike]£1599.90[/strike] £0:jTOTAL TO GO = [strike]£2762.20[/strike] £0 !!! DONE IT DONE IT DONE IT!!!:dance:0 -

Mine is a £450 Racing Bike and £30 'Turbo Trainer' (for cycling indoors) that I bought in January 2006 to get fit.
I've ridden it 5 times (twice recently) so at present it has cost me about £96 per cycle ride.........
On the plus side, £480 is about the cost of an annual membership to a gym, and at least I still have the bike;)
What's your biggest waste of money?
Steve
Sorry to thread-hijack, but where did you get a turbo trainer for £30 from? *rubs chin* hehe.0 -

It's a Cyclops Magneto Trainer - It may have been a bit more than £30 but I know I did a deal on it because the bike was so expensive.
There's something similar here for £45

My biggest waste of money was a phase of buying ANYTHING from Dorothy Perkins Tall range that was in the sale, I ended up with a big store card debt and loads of clothes which either didn't fit me or I didn't like.
I'm a bit more savvy when it comes to clothes buying now.0 -
My most memorable waste of money was the purchase of a 'Sony' camcorder about 12 years ago. I didn't buy it new, as they were around £900 at the time  . Instead, one of my customers told me that his daughter was selling it, as she needed cash for her uni, and that it would be good for me to be able to 'record' my installations, as well as for holiday use, and would be a real bargain at £500.
BEFORE I parted with my hard-earned cash, I mentioned to a friend that I was thinking about buying it, and he told me "Don't buy it - you'll use it once and it will gather dust on top of the wardrobe."
I totally ignored this advice, parted with the cash and took the 'new toy' home. My daughter used it, for her holiday, I NEVER used it - and where is it now?
You've guessed - On top of the wardrobe - gathering dust. :mad:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
