Biggest waste of money.....

I paid £500 (ish) to learn to paraglide, I did it for a while with club equipment then I decided to ditch it until I was a little more affluent and able to buy the equipment. Then a few years later I paid a similar amount to learn again, then on this occasion I just did not find the time to go. It is still an ambition to do it, but I'll have to pay a 3rd time!
Another waste of money is a DVD player for the headrest in the car, my wife does not agree that our little one should watch DVD's in the car so it sits in the bag it was bought in, in the wardrobe.
I cannot do correspondence courses, wasted money on a computing course to the tune of about £1000 and a chemistry course at about £2000 -
Letting my OH move in - well, I actually didnt let him move in, he sort of kept bringing in bits of his belongings and I didnt really realise till the day he threw a wobbly cus there wasnt enough room in wardrobe for his stuff.
He's cost me thousands not repaying loans and stuff, not to mention aspirin and indigestaion tablets.
Anyone want him??? FREE!
Mines better with money than I am and buys his own indigestion tablets (in bulk) but other than that its the same here. I still pay all the household bills ( he has been here now for 20 years) and for the last couple of months only he now gives me £80 per week.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
Shoes and bags ive hardly used and yet i still by more!
endless fitness equipment that is gathering dust some where, again used for a week then never again. I could go on and on but dont want to bore everyone!0 -
Gosh I've never wasted money, everything I ever bought was a bargain!
If I only had a pound for every time I've said or thought 'but it's only £x...'
Then I worked out what the total of all the 'only' £xs was...
Same here! I could cry when I think about all the sale/charity shop/ pound shop tat I've bought over the years because it seemed like a bargain! That and nights out where I always ended up buying a bottle of wine or a pitcher of cocktail because they were "better value". :rolleyes:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

M&S food. It's not just food, it's rather expensive and yummy food.
My degree was slightly pointless
Gorgeous green pointy shoes, a size too small
Most things i've regretted buying i've managed to flog on eBay0 -
For me my biggest wate of money was trying to hold onto a property investment for the long term when in the short it was getting me into debt. As the place eventaully got repossessed It will probally cost me clse to £30k. An Expensive lesson in anyones book!
I also blew a lot of money (and time!)when I decided I'd up the stakes and try playing Poker semi-pro to pay off some of my debts. Lets just say that if you are a compulsive gambler playing Poker for higher stakes than you can realistacally afford to lose doesnt work and after about a year I was another £12K-£15K down what is a miracle to be honest as I playing at stupidly high stakes and I dread to think of the amounts I actually gambled.

For me, it was exes too.
A long, expensive and hard lesson to learn, but after having done a lot of work on my own self-esteem issues, I'm not only better off (and debt-free) but have a lovely partner who earns more than me....Retired in 2015.
