Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 7thAugust 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone just enjoying the peace before the kids wake up as they are normally wide awake and running around by now.
Its raining here but still quite warm we had thunder last night. Not sure what i'm upto today besides sorting out my bedroom later i'm very tempted to sneak back into bed.0 -
DS got his higher results yesterday by text message. apparently the website crashed and people couldnt get their results. anyway he got 4 A's and 1 B
he needed 4 B's for the course he wants to do at uni so he shouldn't have too many problems getting a place. last night we went out for tea to celebrate.
off to work soon. another busy day no doubt. working full time to cover holidays but cant wait to get back to my own hours. however next months pay packet will be a bit heavierx x x0 -

Goodmorning everyone,
Snowy Glad to see that kitty has arrived. Hope Teddy settled down. What's the name or can we all suggest one and you pick the best.OK my suggestion would be.....Aussie :D
I've had a busy day in the kitchen and even managed to have a little sleep this arv. :rotfl:I didn't mean too but hopped up on the bed after lunch to read the paper. Just having a cuppa now and will go and water the plants. Did I tell you what we've planted so far. No I didn't think so.
Orange, mandarin, lemon, macadamia nut, elderflower, nectarine tree's. Rhubarb, silverbeet, strawberries, passionfruit vine, choko vine, zucchinni, capsicum, butternut squash & sweet potatoes.
Seeds that are germinating -corn, cabbage, snow peas, carrot & beans. I think that's it. Watch this space and I will tell you how many I can kill.Green thumb I'm not. I've also got potatoes sprouting to plant soon.
Well hope you all have a lovely day & ((((hugs)))) to those under the weather. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Good Morning all
It's sunny here at the moment, though rain is forcast for later.
I listed some books on Amazon so am hoping for some sales there & aslo listed more stuff on Ebay. I got my car insurance fron Quidco for £184 instead of £800+ that it was last year. I didn't have any amusing callers last night, most of them put the phone down within second of me saying hello.
Today I need to go to the post office anan & after that shall carry on with clearing the study & hopefully get some more sewing done.
Hope everyone has a good day
Hugs Hester

Another nice day here, might go to Aldi and get some organic compost and try some vegetable seeds - I know they should have been planted by now, but do the seeds really know
Change the bed, get the sheets on the line and then put the bm on and make some hm soup - must remember to claim my points on chore wars :A
Hope everyone is Ok, have a good day xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Hello everyone! Back from my holiday - have you missed me  We had a great time down in Devon and Cornwall. The first week was pretty wet and muddy, but the Small Penguins loved the surfing (they're after bit parts in Surf's Up :rotfl: :rotfl:). DS is now planning his life around surfing in the summer and skiing in the winter. He's even asking what Universities there are in the South West. Think we'll be going back next year.
The second week was drier. We went to the Eden Project which we all really enjoyed. Used Tesco tokens so it wasn't dear, the food was reasonably priced, and there was no problem with us eating our packed lunches at the cafe tables. We stayed all day, and there were still things we missed. Lost Gardens of Helligan have been saved until next time.
Ate lots of cream teas. Don't know how you Cornish people stay so slim (especially Catowen) - I'd be fat as butter
N9eav - we almost got stuck in Mevagissy - the narrowest lanes I've ever travelled on
Our piece of excitement was when DH and I saw a teenaged boy trying to climb a fence. The fence gave way, and he fell backwards and cut open his back quite badly. We called an ambulance (no idea where the nearest doctors was) and got him and his friend packed into an ambulance in just their wetsuits - no shoes even. His parents phoned us later to say that he'd needed 7 stitches, and no lasting damage.
Small Penguins are staying at their grandparents this week, so after I've been for my run this morning, I'm on a mad claning frenzy. We've spent a couple of days in the garden - the chicks are now outside in their new, improved pen. They're really not sure about *outside* though. We've been eating lots from the garden, and still more to come.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Good morning to all and, probably, good night to AUSSIELASS! AUSSIE - your orchard sounds wonderful!
N9EAV - Have a great day fishing!:j :j
DOGROSE - many many congratulations to MASTER DOGROSE - excellent results! I well remember all that waiting and the relief at the end! You must be feeling very proud!:T :T
GOOD LUCK to all who are awaiting results. My fingers are crossed for you!
Well, woke up slightly later than usual because I had my first broken night's sleep since DH went away. Methinks it was the extra cup of coffee late last night!
Plan for today is breakfast, which will be porridge with pumpkin seeds and sultanas; quick swish and swipe - the house stays so tidy with no-one else here; I have NO IRONING:A (she says, smugly!!) and not enough washing for a full load so will have to waste this lovely drying weather today; sort out some photos to send to my mum; make a salad for lunch and, possibly, dinner; visit the gym - I wanted to go yesterday but stayed in all day for a mail order company to collect some items they had delivered which I had not ordered and, of course, they didn't turn up  so I have sent a terse email to them; mow the lawns and go to the shops - I need to buy some file dividers for my never-ending filing - and ....well, I think that's it so far. Doesn't sound like a very taxing day but I'll still fancy a doze this afternoon!
Has anyone been watching the latest River Cottage series? I had recorded the last two and watched them while I was ironing yesterday and they are so inspirational - if they showed them at school, I'm sure it would put everyone off ready meals and fast food forever. I'm going to see if I can find his recipes on the net somewhere.
Anywway, kettle is calling! See you later, have a brilliant morning and take a hug - I have loads!
