We grind our own beans KC, still think roasting sounds like too much of a faff. I never knew that El was a coffee snob, she's a hipster and never knew it :rotfl:

This page about using a popcorn popper was interesting

If u have a popcorn maker you should try it, fairly easy and u can get the roast you like ... I like it after the first cracking but before the second .. just now that is I'm sure I will change through time

Thinking of trying Turkish coffee next

Urgh - Turkish coffee!! Tried that with my Dad once after an Indian? meal in Edinburgh (clearly a fusion restaurant ;)) I didn't know about the evil sludge at the bottom of the cup, ended up drinking about half of it and still had palpitations by the time I went to bed 8 hours later :(

Aye it's strong stuff ... but I would only need 1 cup a day so money saving lol

The sludge at the bottom is the coffee, see how when u make a cup on your stove top/caffitiere etc your just taking the water with the coffee infused?

With a Turkish coffee your pouring water onto the coffee and letting it sit then drinking it all ( apart from the sludge) so it will be more potent

Just toying with the idea just now :)

We're probably going to buy an espresso maker (15 bar pressure) to replace our broken one. The stove top is ok, but the one we ordered is too small for 2 and occasionally it misfires (for some reason it's only 75% full despite doing the same thing we do every time!).

Today we bought Mr El''s kayak and paddle, we were given money for Xmas by his parents which allowed us to pay for the kayak. This will make things a bit cheaper for us when we go away caravanning so looking forward to trying it out .

Whilst out we decided to pop into the travel agents and look at holidays, we have fancied going to Montenegro for and did consider it a place to move to, however we have been advised for several reasons to consider a cruise which takes in Montenegro amongst other places, so we were given quotest one of which was £5,500 and that wasn't including trips, now I may sound snobby here but I don't find £5,500 too much for a holiday if it was giving me the experience I was looking for but I had so many more negatives than positives ... it wasn't the experience I was looking for, the young lad did well and I think he recognised that it wasn't for us so he recommended a different company to try he said they were more expensive but would be the experience we want.

Now I personally think whilst £5.5k would be worth it for a holiday it isn't cheap, it's not a cheap holiday at all ... so it looks like back to the drawing board for us ... my wee caravan will be pUlley out again and no doubt that will make me happiest :)

Aye .. as I say if it was the experience we were looking for then that would be a different story ... but £5.5k ( not including trips) for something that I think would be meh is just not worth it

I am trying to think of experiences that we have spent a similar amount on, the only one that springs to mind was our honeymoon (a week in a 5* hotel in Zakynthos, where we got married, followed by a week in NYC). Memories :)

OK ... after the silly prices of the weekend for holidays ... let's get back to some sensible planning

Hubby's wages are due on Friday so I need to get organised as to what I am doing regarding food budget
Firstly let's tackle this ... how much should I bI'd get for two adults ?

Realistically how much should I budget for two adults for a month and how much should I realistically budget for two adults for take aways ?
