I ordered myself green coffee beans as I really enjoy coffee, I had decided round about November time to use up all my coffee and start roasting my own ... so ordered my beans ( which arrived today) and then as expected found another jar of coffee in the cupboard :) so I have another jar to work through, ach well I'm sure it won't be such a hard task to do :)

Where did you buy your beans from? Isn't roasting them a PITA?

I don't find it a pain ... I only roast enough for a week or so at a time so that I'm not roasting every day ... I ordered them from pennine tea and coffee online, just 1kg bags

I don't think it will work out cheaper, but I think the quality will be vastly improved, bought myself some Nicaraguan coffee, I've drank Nicaragua coffee a fair bit due to a friend living in Nicaragua and working with farmers families on the coffee farms so I know I like it.

Also bought some Ethiopian coffee as I like their coffee as well

3 days after roasting the coffee is the best time to drink it ... you can really taste the difference from day 1 to day 3

Hello El :) just popped in to say thanks for posting on my thread, I didn't get to yours yet, after my return, and you're talking about coffee .... everyone else in my family drinks instant, but I have to have one cup a day of basic ground coffee. I doubt I'll ever grind my own beans unless I win the main premium bond, but it does sound lovely :)

We grind our own beans KC, still think roasting sounds like too much of a faff. I never knew that El was a coffee snob, she's a hipster and never knew it :rotfl:

This page about using a popcorn popper was interesting

Hi Kc ... I just use a cheap grinder, one from argos cost me less than £25 I would love to have a better one but the one I have does me.

I do prefer to grind my own beans as I find it tastes nicer, but I don't do it all the time as I don't have the time

I am using a popcorn maker to roast them as well, you can't roast loads but you can roast enough to last a few days at a time ... I'm doing it as cheaply as I can, hopefully when money allows I will upgrade my process ... but for now what I'm doing is fine :)

    Hope you are well
