Hi, I'm at the start of my MF journey and very focussed on off-setting and OPing now but conscious I need a plan for retirement so will look forward to following your journey.

my idea's have morphed from getting out of debt to getting out of debt with some savings, to getting out of debt with some savings and sorting the pension, to hey whats wrong with F.I.R.E (financial independence retire early)

The MSE site tends to do this to you, I think. We are in the exactly the same position having started out with the intention of becoming completely mortgage and debt free. I have recently become a little obsessed with the pensions and retirement forum, I admit:o

I can also relate to your feelings of overpaying the mortgage as opposed to investing the money into a pension. It probably makes more financial sense to do the latter but I know being mortgage free will feel great.

Good luck on the second half of your journal Elantan!

Thank you everyone much appreciated, I am positive your encouragement has been what has kept me going so far and will get me through the next four years :)

Havn't been up to much apart from placement and working, youknow those things that are not interesting but help with the journey from A to B.. Was hoping to do some stuff in the garden but truthfully we have been overspending badly so have no money for plants or anything else just now, will still potter about no doubt but I think garden improvement plans will be on hold for this year, I think with my brother and his family coming over we have over spent, not just that though to be honest, we have been overspending for months to be honest, I think were both feeling scunnered, I think its been a winter thing, maybe now with the weather changing we might get things back on track.

Went for a lovely walk with Mr El, he just cant help himself, found a branch and we landed up having to haul it back home, so we have another wee bit of wood for the fire, I reckon we should get approx 6 hours burning time from it :)

 Spooksville . I'm 1,500 miles away but I saw 2 men dragging a tree stump this afternoon and wondered if you collected wood for your fires .
