I'd say cash ISAs that allow setting up a DD to facilitate deposits must be rare if they exist at all?

I've updated my post to make it clearer that there is no way at all to set up a recurring deposit to the account at all. My previous ISA was with Cynergy and before that Principality and it was very easy to do that with them, as it was with the providers I used before. Maybe we have had different experiences.

Click on your Cash Isa/ Add Money/Recurring deposit/Select bank/connect account.. follow the instructions.

I did try this already and could not get it to work, so I contacted Chip directly this morning and they have come back to me confirming that their ISA does not have this functionality (but that they are working on it).

OK another option - set up a small payment from your proposed feeder account to the sort code and ac number of your Chip isa. If this works use the same details to set up a standing order for your regular deposit.
I've done the payment in the past, so it should work.

Yes I had considered this too, but can't see the sort code and ac # of the ISA in the Chip app. How did you find yours?
Edit - Chip just came back to me and said:
"The Smart Cash ISA doesn't have a sort code and account number, these accounts only have a reference number. At the moment you can only deposit via the linked bank account within the Chip app" - this is the functionality that will not allow recurring payment to be selected. Only a manual one off.
Edit again to add final messages with Chip:
Me: So to be clear, there is no way to deposit into the account aside from via the linked bank account in the Chip app, and this cannot be set to recurring, only one off manual payments?
Chip: Yes that is correct, the team are working on this so hopefully there will be more options in the future.0 -
They're not helping, are they.
Tap yr ISA. Top right on the screen is a v. little paper symbol with a microfying glass: tap on that/statements/view and you'll see a statement, top right is the sort code and account number for your ISA with ClearBank - then try the small payment from your feeder ac.
If the small payment works and shows in yr Chip account I don't see why it shouldn't work with a S/O… so one step at a time, test with small amounts.

@soulsaver - your mention of ClearBank makes me think you are talking about the old cash ISA that Chip used to offer -
Whereas I guess that maybe @Rahven has a 'Smart Cash ISA' from Chip - - which is provided by Chip Financial (Investments) Ltd. rather than ClearBank, and may well operate differently with respect to sort codes, account numbers, recurring payments etc.2 -
This does give me access to my ISA reference number, but not to the a/c # and sort code, as no statements cause it is a new account 🙂 Will try this next month, ta.
Still think it's pretty poor tho and would put me off if I'd known about this in advance.0 -
I haven't paid too much attention to Chip for several months now as I no longer have accounts with them, so I can't help you with the deposit question.
But there appear to be other issues with Chip ISAs - have you seen this thread:1
