I concur. He's been asked to put up or shut up, and failed at both ...
On the contrary I’m being asked to prove what doesn’t need BC? where as there post insist on stating it does the difference is that all that needs is covered in its entirety within the appropriate regulations. So that should easily proved but there is absolutely no regulation to cover stairs to an attic to be used as an attic please show me the one that states it? There are for conversions, renovations etc that’s a completely different argument...I have stated Building Regulations need to be complied with wherever you do something that requires compliance but thats not the case for something that doesn't

There is number of reason stairs to an attic maybe needed to inspect a boiler, water heater, fan, ventilation unit, air conditioning Bc oe alike could argue this could be done via access via an alternative method granted but when a body says to you cant have this you require that etc you are within your rights to ask for an explanation and regulation which they would need to supply to justify the onus is on them not you

This is the full REQUIREMENT in Page 4 of the approved document. If your stair meets the conditions in the requirement and not in the limits, it needs to comply! Where the stairs are located or where they run to and from is absolutely irrelevant. The requirement to comply applies to all stairs that allow people to move between levels, the limit is only applied as far as stairs forming part of the building. That means FIXED in. If you theoretically turn the house upside down and
It doesn't fall out, it is part of the building.

The OPs stairs need to comply.

I've reported you for breaking forum rules by trolling this thread and undermining the community spirit of this forum. If enough people do it, you'll be out on your ear.

Because you cannot come up with anything to substantiate your claim and I had already approached the subject of different definitions and acceptance of what stairs are???? Materials, Suspended, Spiral, Helical, Fixed ladders etc don’t confuse stairs that are part of a planning application with ones that are not....

Stairs don't need planning permission unless they're in a listed building!

Well aware hence the "dont confuse "and of stairs that need meet requirements of BC and those that don’t as you or others can't produce the regs I see little point in carrying on this as its of no assistance to poster think what you like its irrelevant to me or my business

Yeah, we spend all day specifying products to plasterers...but tell me again why you think a stair in this situation is exempt from regs
