Have you tried actually checking prices?:)
Waitrose is pretty consistent in being the most expensive supermarket on the Grocer 33. Cost of this week's basket £62.69, compared to Morrisons £54.26 - that's a 15% premium.
See, there you go, 15%.:)
I tend to just look at the final bill when I get to the till which seems to always be about £75 regardless of which shop I am in. I find this better reflects the cost to me than a standardised basket of goods which I didn't buy.0 -

It is still better than the Esher Waitrose car park which is diabolical.
Yes it's bad enough getting into car park, bad car parks seem to be a theme with Waitrose.0 -

As it happens, the Grocer33 is not a "standardised basket of goods". It's a random selection of 33 grocery items which changes every week. Which is why you can conclude that, if one supermarket consistently comes bottom of the Grocer33 week after week, that is indeed more expensive than the competition.:)0 -

I'm thinking about carparks and I concur. Even really big carparks for waitrose are unnecessarily fiddly and pokey. I'm thinking of places like Cirencester, or Salisbury, where the parks are not small but seemingly poorly laid out. Anybody know if the people who used to go to Ciren with the driven horse still go? Always cheered me up to see that parked there.
Bath isn't bad, its just also used as a central shoppers carpark. I remember Esher waitrose carpark, and cobham, and cobham would definitely be my preference to park in if its the same and it was. Gulp, 15/20 years ago.0 -
You are very welcome frankleen. You should here us discuss the merits of other supermarket carparks. My favourite carpark of all is an asda carpark in a Somerset market town. I cannot understand why the external store and carpark layout ( which is incredibly and simply good) hasn't been copied in many more new build super markets.
Sigh. They spend to much time concentrating on spam over good design probably.0 -

No he is not, have a look at his previous posts, I would suggest he is a spammer from India.0 -

Haven't read the whole of this.
My nearest 3 supermarkets are Co-ops and that suits me fine. But 20 minutes away (on a route I drive every couple of weeks or so) there is a Lidl & a Waitrose opposite each other. Wonderful!
Although we may be the reason for the gradual withdrawing of the free tea & coffee. You can guess why.........0
