Do you live near a Waitrose?

my nearest waitrose is 35 miles away.
If I am in that direction/area, then I shop there. Their prices arent that bad when shopsavvy & know the prices in other stores. Add to that 5% discount from my bank & £12 off £90 shop coupon Waitrose send me, then its easily on par price wise with other supermarkets. I dont bother with their pre-prepared fruit n veg stuff as that is expensive. However, I did shop there this week & their Indian £10 meal deal is quite decent. 2 Mains, 2 Sides & 1 Rice - add in some Naan's that are currently on offer there & you got a meal for 2 for £11 that is actually quite filling, when compared to the M&S £10 meal deal.
Forgot to add... I done a click & collect & Because I had to wait 15mins (they hadn't bagged it), the CS staff gave me a £10 Giftcard. So just need to wait for next 5% Bank offer & £12 voucher to use it :oD0 -
I have to confess we moved to our current house in part because of the proximity to Waitrose
Even so it's three miles away, so not exactly *close* - our nearest large supermarket is Sainsburys (two miles) and we have two Sainsburys Locals and two small Co-ops within walking distance. Slightly further away there is both a Lidl and Aldi. The closest large Tesco is seven miles away and even the Tesco Express is a ten minute drive, but we hate Tesco with a vengeance - it was our closest supermarket at our last location and it was a really awful one. There are no Asda or Morrisons that I'm aware of but we only bought this house in December and we wouldn't use either tbh......
We do all our shopping either locally in the village (Co-op, Sainsburys Local or independent deli/bakers etc) or at either Waitrose (first choice for interesting food purchases) or Sainsburys (for more *bog standard* stuff).
I definitely think that although Waitrose can be a little more expensive, for us personally this is outweighed by the fact that the overall shopping experience is a far more pleasant oneMortgage-free for fourteen years!

Nearest supermarket from here is about 25 miles.
We do have a little one in the city centre and I pop in occasionally on my way home from work.Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0 -
If I am honest I am a shop "!!!!!" really I will shop anywhere where the best prices/quality are.
I use mostly aldi/lidl and local farm shops. Occasionally I use the big stores for specific offers, but I do like Waitrose. Have a look at other waitrose threads to see how their brill new card can give you some great savings. You choose 10 items from a huge list and get 20% off the FULL price of those items PLUS any other offers discounts as well-even yellow stickered items.
So for example the small chickens are on the card and on 3 for £10 so you can buy them for around £2 odd each, or heinz beans on 2 tins for £1 plus the card extra making them about 33p each. Plus their essentials butter in the big pack is cheap and lovely and of course you get your free coffee and newspaper. OH and I have a card each so we get two lots of 20% offers and a coffee each when we go

I do not live near one but have had a couple of deliveries and found them to be cheaper than tescos when taking advantage of their decent offers, and the quality much better. Now a convert after going via topcashback and there is a much better range on offer compared to the other supermarkets.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

The coop on the other side of the park our house backs on to became a Waitrose a few years ago. It's only about 5 mins away by bike, and if it's raining we can drive from our garage to their covered (and spacious) garage without getting wet.
It's convenient, the staff are friendly and helpful, and Quick Check makes it fast. I'm sure the prices are higher but our groceries are a negligible part of our overall expenditure, so I don't obsess about it too much.
I balance things out by doing a fair bit of shopping at our local market, which is way cheaper than any supermarket.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
Waitrose pay their staff more than other supermarkets (i think) and hence, in part, charge more.
