Im Thinking Of Seeing A Medium Any Advice Please

Well I don't know where you get your example from - seems an unlikely scenario.
If you ring a medium to arrange a reading - there don't ask your name, or maybe just your first, wouldn't do much good anyway, any rare 'news' in the local 'Echo' just as likely someone else with the same name! And family notices? Again more likely to find unrelated people - same name.

Moreover, in the 'Church' that I advised, mediums are invited in from 30 -to - 120 miles away.
My last message there wasn't for me but for my partner, the details of which no one else there would know!! Indeed, an unusual name I didn't recognise.
And just in case - neither of us are on facebook!

ExMIL. Absolutely convinced the woman was genuine. Especially because she said 'he says he sees you sleeping with something of his near you'. Yeah, because no widow ever takes their husband's clothing and breathes in the much missed smell (in her case, his dressing gown). Would have covered anything of his that was on a shelf, in a cupboard or on the wall, too.

When she was told he died suddenly, yes, technically that was right - apart from the fact he'd been terminally ill for the last five years. So she could have said he was ill for a long time and that would have been right as well.

Tall man? Him. Had she said a short man, that would have been her father instead.

He was 'with an older lady'. Yeah. Humans tend to have female relatives and by that age, their mothers and grandmothers tend to be dead already. Didn't mention that she dumped him off into Barnados for ten years, though. An older man could have been his father or equally his older brother - or even a teacher. A lady always careful about her hair - could be a well groomed relative - or an old friend who had to wear a wig due to burns. Hearing music - dancing? Offspring playing? Him playing? Could have been another relative who was deaf; oh well, they can hear music on the Other Side. Or it could be the angels praising God if she hadnt latched onto the deaf relative or any other alternative.

Didn't know he'd been stabbed in a robbery when she was pregnant with their eldest. Or that he had a tattoo of a dagger over the scar. But if she'd said 'he had a pain in his chest', exMIL would instantly have picked on that as something only a true psychic would have known.

She was very pleased to hear that he had apparently changed his mind in the afterlife and decided that he was happy for her to meet other people and go on with her life - right up until the day he died, he'd always insisted that he thought her remarrying after his death was adultery/the ultimate betrayal and hated her leaving the house even to go to work. No mention of having changed his mind though, just the standard 'go on' stuff.

She wouldn't say how much she paid that woman. But she was going to tell all her friends about her, as she'd 'told her all about x and y, and she thinks she would be able to help them'.

It's just a scam. Had the exMIL not said a word (not likely with her; sweet lady, but, by 'eck, she's a talker), her wide eyed amazement at the generic statements would have spoken all the 'psychic' needed to know.

At best, they're naturally good at reading people and are deluded into thinking they have magical abilities. The rest, just mercenary.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Has anybody seen the episode of Family Guy where Peter thinks he's psychic? Pretty much sums up my opinion of them.
