Barclaycard Cashback

Would people still go for this if they were eligible now? I've become eligible after 6 months on Freedom Rewards and I'm tempted but not sure how long-term the card's current offering will be.0

So far, there has been nothing to indicate barclaycard might withdraw the cashback card and even if they did, they would probably allow you to move back to the Freedom Rewards card or the Platinum card.0

Barclaycard says it "has no plans to change the value our customers receive from the Freedom Rewards card at this time".
I took that to mean that they did have plans to reduce the value of the cashback card. I would be very surprised if they did not reduce the cashback within a few months.0 -
The difference between points and cash back is that atleast the issuer can negotiate when it comes to points. Its why for example Amex's fees have on average halved in the last 3 years but cards like the BA card haven't got any worse as they will buy Avios cheaper from BA.0

Let's hope Barclaycard don't do the same as MBNA

Very true, I hadn't thought about the ability to move back; I've got enough points in 6 months for £15 in vouchers so in basic conversion terms that's only about £30 "cashback" a year...King_Of_Fools wrote: »When Tesco announced their cuts the news article reported:

Fair point, though as they don't actively market the CB card I wonder whether they would actually publicly namedrop or whether they would contact holders directly instead?Let's hope Barclaycard don't do the same as MBNA

Exactly why I queried going for it - 0.5% on Amex and 0% on MC is worse than my old Cap1 effectively, at least I knew that would be accepted everywhere!0 -
Just bit the bullet, else I'd be um-ing and ah-ing about it for weeks!
My statement came through yesterday so I now have to wait a month for it all to transfer fully apparently however I knew that 6 months is the minimum they generally look for before offering the card and this month's statement marks that anniversary.
Sod's law they'll cut the rates just as I receive the cards in a few weeks!0
