Gen, this is right up your street if you want to do another zombie apocalypse thread:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/science-news/12155808/Robots-will-take-over-most-jobs-within-30-years-experts-warn.html

I've been told that the Zombie Robot Apocalypse is off topic which is plainly stupid. I suspect that They Who May Not Be Discussed on the boards do not want to upset their coming Zombie Overlords.

Just had a mini heart attack when checking the business banking and seeing that 2 payments aren't in the account.

It also tells me that they'll be paid in tomorrow, which is a huge relief

That's a shame. You would think that robots being able to do most jobs in 30 years would be important to the economy. Oh well. Sorry, don't want to get you in trouble.

What are we going to to do about the possibility of making computers that are cleverer than us, not just quicker and more accurate?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

We put the computers in the water. If they don't work when they come out they're okay, otherwise we burn them for having the devil in them.

It is a thing. What do we do as computers become more and more able? I want tech to serve me of course but do I want it to serve everyone else in the same way equally? Nope.

In general terms if we have self driving cars I'd rather that they acted to do the best for the largest number. If the car had no choice but to run over a class load of kids crossing the road or hit a tree killing the inhabitants then of course I want the people in the car to die. If it's my kids in the car? No frikking way!!!! I will pay a hacker a lot of money to make sure my kids live in those situations.

People will need to do a lot of changing to live under the Zombie Apocalypse regime.

I am very, very fortunate that DW loves spring flowers. So, she has a bunch of daffs and a bunch of tulips. And, what makes me truly fortunate is that she says they are lovely.

I agree GDB, I'd much rather have a bunch of daffs and a bunch of tulips than a bunch of roses :)

Daffodils are my absolute favourite flowers.

Lovely commute. No annoying kids and their annoying parents on the road. :)

And talking of flowers would be a nice link to move us over to the new thread.....assuming PN has finished her pruning.
