Do any NP have any top vegetarian (or fish) recipes? They should be cheap and easy to prepare and children frioendly. Later this month we have a paying guest for two weeks who is a vege (15 yo German girl if that makes any difference). She eats fish but niether DD2 nor I are very keen on fish and we would sooner only cook one meal a day.
Not trying to be funny, but have you tried asking if she eats chicken? I read a while back that German kids on exchanges to the UK were advised to pretend they're veggie so we wouldn't feed them our notoriously brain-destroying beef. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I jolly well hope you won'tIt's ridiculous that people who are unfairly turned down and need to appeal aren't allowed to keep their car while their appeal goes through! OH is on War Pension mobility supplement, so he is supposed to keep that for always, unless they change those rules as well of course!
Motability is a good thing, but it is frustrating if you find a car that's ideal for you and then when you need to replace it that one doesn't happen to be on the list at the time.
Thanks for looking for the RICA website! I'll have a look. Though OH says he would want the five-seater anyway, because it's the one he feels is best for him. And I doubt there's a roomier 5-seater than the C4 Picasso available anyway.
ETA That's brilliant Doozergirl! I want one too! Though, come to think of it, it wouldn't fit in our bathroom.0 -
The danger is that the broker has fooked up the renewal resulting in a break in cover at which point presumably everything becomes pre-existing....
It may become pre-existing but it won't stop cover.
company: our PHI costs seem high
broker: I'll try and get you a better deal
PHI provider: I can do it for £xx
broker: company will only take it if all previous issues are covered
PHI Provider: that's fine because otherwise we would never get any new corporate business.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Strange what people are allergic to, I have a friend allergic to kiwi and another allergic to cherries.
I'm allergic to kiwi too, and had what I think is called "oral intolerance" of cherries, apples and nuts (they made my lips and tongue burn) for several years, but that seems ok now , thankfully.
ETA Oh, and raw potatoes - I have to wear gloves when I peel them and be very careful not to absentmindedly rub my eyes.0 -

Have declined to accompany OH on the dog walk. Branches moving wildly and quite a noise from the wind in the trees.
Anight to light the fire and cosy up.0 -

Me too - I thought it was the peel rather than the raw potato per say though? Apparently it is very like tree pollen, birch etc.I think....0 -
A little fed up, I seem to be having trouble controlling my headaches...
Sending hugs.
Headaches are vile. I get lots. I blame most of them on not getting enough sleep (which is my own stupid fault for being undisciplined about going to bed at a sensible time) and a few on some long standing troubles with my neck. Could either of those things be a factor in yours? Hope the specialist can do something to help, anyway, and that the funding issues get sorted out.
New mattress is NOT helping with the neck issues. Must make appointment to see chiropractor. Actually need to make appointments with her for all of us. DD says her back pain is now getting a bit better since she has finally given in to my insistence that she should start carrying her rucksack of school books on two shoulders not just one, but says it's still rather sore. DS's OT thinks there may be a neck component to his hand and wrist pain when writing. We are a hopeless lot, aren't we??Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

We have the 7 seater Renault Grand Scenic at the mo. We just have the back 2 seats permanently down! :rotfl: Means we can just put the folded wheelchair in without having to do things like taking the wheels off... Really reaching the point in time when I could do with getting a better wheelchair. It really kills me spending time in it, half an hour even and I can barely stand up from it. Anyway, back to cars - we have so much carp to haul to and from caravan that the 5 seaters are a bit small for us! OH's new car (the Hyundai x35) is only 5 seater, we haven't even tried the wheelchair in the boot yet as it's always raining! But we really need to do that. Might use it for short trip to caravan to see how we go with smaller car... If we're only going for a week I'll only need about 3 suitcases full of clothes, and 2 bags of electronics. :rotfl: Food we can get when we arrive!

Thanks Gen. I'll pass that on.
Don't "go on holiday" any more. Haven't done for years now. It wouldn't be a holiday for me without another adult to talk to, and there isn't anyone we could go with. I do take my kids to stay with my brother and his family, or my other brother and his family, or my in-laws, or my kids' various godparents. That's all, though.
Miss holidays. Miss going on holidays as a couple. Miss being a couple to go on holidays as.
Spirit, is there a reason why you and Mr Spirit can't go on holiday with the remaining partner of the couple of which you lost one?? Or with that person and one member of the couple that holiday separately??
My sister has been widdowed for over 10 years and holidays alone a lot, some to escape her grief for her sons. She always finds people to talk to, and has made some good friends this way. She is staying with some welsh people she met in China this weekend.
She usually takes her grandaughter away for an annual holiday and finds people to talk to through chatting with the families of her GDs newholiday friends.
OH and I both talk to strangers on holiday. In busy restaurants we will offer to share our table, If we are drinking wine we will offer nearby couples a glass, we met a charming dutch couple in November in Milan, this way.
It starts as smalltalk, some leads to invitations, insights and recommendation. We have at least had a peek into the local social and economic perspectives. We will engage with staff who help us and have heard their stories. In Cyprus last month I met up with an Expat whom I originally met about 5 years ago and we are in regular contact. This time a greek physio who could not get a job at all in greece was my spa masseuse and manicurist. She came to meet me after work another day and I shared with her info on the chartered society of Physio's, applying for UK accreditation and applying for jobs in the NHS. She told me about building herlife in Cyprus, coping with refugees in her native Rhodes and winter heating in traditional housing. It passed a pleasant couple of hours.
Have you considered Warner Holidays? They have watersports holidays in greece, there is often a spa, other activities and plenty of sight seeing. Could you rent a villa on a resort? All holidays require bit of effort but it may be good for you to live family life in the sun for a week or two. Even a holiday apartment/lodge in Devon. Something where you turn up and it is all set up but you can then go about as much normal life or change as you can see fit. Would your dad accompany you.
We have holidayed with friends widdower, however he has a new partner and she is not interested in sustaining his former friendships so even a night out is tricky, we have suggested weekends away, he is enthusiastic then in silvercars words reverses out.
Other friends we are doing some things with as singletons however he has become quite rich and his holiday wishes are now mega budget and interests hedonistic, she has a full on church life and holidays are spent sailing or with her aging relatives.0 -
