5 mins at 2km/h is 166m. Under normal walking speed that should take you less than 2 minutes. If you are going to do it in 5 minutes you are going less than half normal walking speed.
Tonight it took me 5 minutes to walk approx 15 feet! I won't tell you how long it took to get up the stairs but I was exhausted and in tears by the time I did it.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I'd find running boring. Really enjoyed walking to Central London recently along the Thames with friends as there was loads to see and good company.
At my age I'd be really careful starting any exercise programme, would take it real slow and easy.
I used to just go inside my head...as in, I would think through plans for later that day, work out calculations, dream a little etc. I found if I thought about what I was doing, I would start to struggle so I would ignore the fact I was running.
I was a cross country runner on the school team and also did fun runs etc as an adult, the last one I did was with no training or build up (hadn't done a run for years by then) and a last minute thing to support James who had entered. I ended up with a serious knee injury, not from lack of training but because youngest decided to run in front of me and I took avoiding action to prevent me running into him/falling on him.
Still did 3 and a half 1 mile circuits though in the hour, the last half mile practically on one leg as we needed to get back to the start before I could get assistance...thankfully the injury occured after the killer of a hill in the earlier part of the course. We made it! I hear you, but..... The but is that I remember something about the car manufacturers doing things like taping over the door seals for these tests. That only makes sense to reduce wind resistance. Maybe there are different tests, then?

Sky says they tape the gaps up, so must be true, as it is on the telly.
I think this is going to be the next big stick to beat the car industry, after emissions has played out. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I reckon there must be. A driverless test can't be outside and if the car actually moves there has to be wind resistance.vivatifosi wrote: »I think this is going to be the next big stick to beat the car industry, after emissions has played out.I think....0

Emissions with deliberate performance changes for test cycles is obviously cheating. Clobbering the car makers for reporting efficiency according to the rules as set by the politicians is typical (unpleasant) politics.
In the case of car mpg, if the firms just hand over a car, then fine, but if they make adjustments to that car, such as putting on special tyres and wheels which will not feature on the final version, and these aid a higher figure, then that IS misleading imo. AIUI there are already test cases (in Italy?)Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Interesting discussion on the running. I've just done my 'jogging', an hour on the rebounder. Must get a pedometer.Spend less now, work less later.0

I have decided to aim for 10 mins per day at speed 2.0, i think it is in kph. But by the feeling of my back I will be completely immobile before today's session. Not sure how house viewing. Dads taxi and MOT are going to happen this afternoon.
I think it's unlikely that speed 2.0 means 2kph...5 mins at 2km/h is 166m. Under normal walking speed that should take you less than 2 minutes. If you are going to do it in 5 minutes you are going less than half normal walking speed.Ignore the naysayers. Doing exercise is better for your physical and mental health than not doing exercise.
You might want to consider doing some weight bearing exercise too in time.
I thought "weight bearing" meant "with your body weight on your legs and feet" so walking is weight bearing but cycling and swimming aren't.
I don't "do exercise". I already feel I have more things that I "ought to be doing" than I can manage. Adding in "do exercise" would just make my life feel even more overwhelming and impossilbe than it already is. Changing the way I do things so that more physical activity happens while I am getting on with my life is a much more realistic way forwards for me. I think I get quite a lot of walking in the course of an average working day, but I've never measured it. Perhaps I should get hold of a pedometer. What's the easiest/cheapest way to do that, please?
The plan we have put together with the psychotherapist is that when we have decluttered the results of DD's compulsive hoarding disorder, the reward for her is going to be that we get a family dog (which she is very keen about). If and when that happens, the dog will need walking, and that will make me get exercise without "doing exercise", IYSWIM. I hope that will be within the next 6 months or so. The ideal time for our family to get a dog would be the beginning of the school summer holidays, so as to have maximum time being full time at home with the dog before we all go back to school in the autumn.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Not AIUI.
Weight bearing exercise means exercise that means you lift some kind of weight.
Again AIUI (and I really am not an expert but I try hard to listen to experts rather than charlatans) exercise that means you lift weight (e.g. push ups, bench presses, yard work) is great for women as it encourages them to put more calcium into their bones and is great for men as it helps stave off heart disease and reduces fat being laid down in muscle and muscle atrophy related to age.
Having said that, most of the exercise I do is cycling and swimming.
And I do occasionally listen to The Charlatans:
