I'm wary of offering any cardio advice because I'm far from an expert.
Maybe you need a fun cardio routine which lets you move into the different threshold zones. This is exactly what H.I.I.T is, but the one I attended would be a bit too intense.
Reebok step could be an option?
Quite a lot of sports effectively provide HIIT without being designed to do so as such. Soccer for example.0 -
That's a bit how I felt at first Pastures. There's some good stuff that you can do on your own without feeling light headed... Joanna Hall's WalkActive is a good start. I also joined the local sports centre. It's less glam and full of mega fit people than the swanky private ones. In fact most people are surprisingly normal and very supportive. I think the mega fit people there do different classes to me (like Metafit, the hardcore HIIT - not sure what that's called and whatever the other one is called that looks like an SAS bootcamp). Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I'm afraid I'm in the Manchester marathon! Rather less glamorous than the NYM.
DW and I have talked about going back to NY - I'd do it.
Sis wanted me to do the Vancouver marathon with her, but I think the date isnt ideal.
I'm never comfy with sponsorship; there are so many cost pressures on people. I would run for Macmillans. They are close to my heart.0 -
I'm sure Manchester is very glamourous in its own way...
Well, if you run for Macs, please drop me a pm beforehand. They have helped out my own family so happy to drop a few quid their way. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I feel I'm just discovering all this. I'm sure there are lots of things to learn.
The great thing about using sport for fitness is that you are often prepared to push yourself just that little bit further for your teammates.
The other great group of sports for fitness are fighting sports. I used to do fencing which is a great one as you can't pause for a moment as if you do you lose.0 -

Much appreciated
Glamorous Manchester...hmm. The ship canal probably offers a wide variety of used condoms for the committed alternative angler0 -
As its an indoor test lab I presume: I wouldn't be surprised if the treadmill was sloping downwards at a steep angle as well.
I hear you, but..... The but is that I remember something about the car manufacturers doing things like taping over the door seals for these tests. That only makes sense to reduce wind resistance. Maybe there are different tests, then?

I reckon there must be. A driverless test can't be outside and if the car actually moves there has to be wind resistance. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

That's not "exercise", that's just walking. Trouble is, you can't just stroll about as that's boring unless you're somewhere new and the weather's good. Try joining up with any other people and there's always some idiot talking of challenges and times. Spoils it.
I wouldn't ever go near a gym, a big building, that's noisy, full of people and bright lights. That wouldn't suit.
I'd find running boring. Really enjoyed walking to Central London recently along the Thames with friends as there was loads to see and good company.
At my age I'd be really careful starting any exercise programme, would take it real slow and easy. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
