You're a good pro-exercise influence on the thread, Gen. Just frequent enough to prevent complacency, without banging on about it incessantly and becoming irritating, especially with your "start small" and "even a little is beneficial" themes. Thanks.
So what should I do about a pedometer? Any ideas? I don't really want to spend as much as a Fitbit if I can help it, but ideally I'd like something that can tell the difference between walking, running, and going up stairs. (I do a LOT of stairs every day at work, and want any pedometer I try to give credit where I've earned it for stairs!) Is that possible without shelling out for a Fitbit???

The Moov Now is a different concept. It doesn't have a display. Instead it talks to your smartphone.
I think it tries to become a life coach, coupled with the GPS and smartphone.
I'd get one but I haven't yet established whether it can use the Heart Rate Monitor built into my watch.
The whole wearable tech market is changing so quickly, it's not clear what will win out.0 -

I don't buy ice cream for my freezer .... I don't tend to buy them while out either. Probably not had more than one spoon of ice cream for decades. Like it ...but there are 1000 other things I like and you can't eat everything (even if you try).
I don't imagine there is vanillin in Mr Whippy but I would guess that Unilever (Walls) are keen fans.PasturesNew wrote: »I used to get a TCO every Xmas, after I said I liked them once.... always the same/original one.
I used to get one every morning for Xmas when my parents realised it would shut me up until 7am. If only they'd realised that sending me to the pub on Xmas eve would keep me quiet until 9am they'd have had an easier Xmas!0 -

DW used to get a large box of Ferrero Rocher off her father every Xmas until his death.
She hadn't the heart to tell him she didn't really like them! :rotfl:0 -

Thanks. It looks good, but I don't think I want it enough to spend £64 on it. If they come massively down in price over the next few years, I'll reconsider.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Great if you are a "normal" person who can have their phone on them all the time. Mine stays safely in my desk while I am teaching - I'm not allowed to use it or let it make noises while I'm in the classroom, so I might as well not have it on me with the risk of forgetting to put it on silent (or back off silent again afterwards). So it wouldn't be able to measure how many times I go up all those stairs at work, or how many walking steps I clock up moving round the lab helping students with their experiments etc.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? We had our company Xmas do last night.
I am utterly hanging, still.
I dread to look at the company bank statement.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

That is extremely early, normally we don't even book ours until June.
