PN : all you illustrate is that it's a case of juggling "wants" against "constraints".

If you ask 6 of us on here to draw a layout, we will probably come up with 6 different answers. I don't know if that helps.

Personally, I'd trawl through a load of pics of similar houses from estate agents online and steal all the best bits.

Or...employ someone, but try not to overconstrain. Start out with a list of wants and the limiting factors. Try not to assume too much; there may be an alternate option which is both innovative and practical.

Meters can just be boxed in, flue can be extendeed and boxed, new extension will have roof and downpipes so linking existing to these not a big issue, similarly extending drain to meet new down pipe arrival point is not a big deal and building over drain is also not a big deal, you might need a rodding point on the external wall boardering neighbour and a new inspection chamber somewhere outside. I am assuming the front section will basically be a 'conservatory' type build?
    I think....

Just received an email from the nursery the twins go to a couple of mornings a week titled simply "accident". My immediate reaction was to panic (notwithstanding the fact that they have never been at nursery on a Thursday afternoon) before I opened it to find that it was a mass email about a traffic accident causing long queues on the road outside the nursery. I think they could probably have thought of a better subject title!

You could buy blow up furniture for demo purposes.

    Maybe you still can.

Pastures, re your sticky keyboard... You may already know this... If it is a very old keyboard, with the stand up keys, as opposed to those where the keys are thin and level, then you may be able to lever off the keys with the thin end of a teaspoon handle and clean underneath and stop them sticking. Something you can't do with new ones, but then you can chuck them away and buy another for less than a tenner. If you do try prising the keys off, then try it with one that isn't important first in case it breaks. This is a way of trying to breathe new life into something that is nearly dead, but could speed up the buying of a new one if not the right type/not done properly.

Got a shower/toilet under our stairs. Door opens outwards, as there's not much room inside. The shower cubicle isn't visible if you just stick your head in the door as it takes out a small chunk of the kitchen.

It could be better designed if the cubicle just took out a corner of the kitchen which is often dead space but not going to move it now.

I got up, to look out of the window, to see if I could see the 5 aligned planets ... and it's cloudy and raining :)

    So that's a "no" then.
I've been reading that the guy who made us get rid of Pluto has found a new bigger planet further out. I'm thinking of it as a tenth planet as I've not got rid of Pluto in my own mind; grew up with it.

Hope he names it "Vulcan" or "Tharg" or "Hades".

Dry here at the moment with an absolutely gorgeous looking red sky, a little breezy though.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Or a better name would be "Ork" in memory of the much-missed Robin Williams. And even better if it has moons they can be named after the beautiful sacred moons of Ork: Lumpy, Squeezy and Jojo. :)

Hot and humid and raining here. I've been sweating like a black man at a US crime scene all day.

And I couldn't get stupid Bloomberg to work today. I was doing the simplest thing and the blasted thing wouldn't do it. I ended up with Bloomberg help for 2 hours. She was brilliant excepting the fact that she couldn't make it work.
