Generali, you've made me laugh over my breakfast. Hopefully the carol concert is improving and well done on the prize.
Another one here who won't be watching any of the TV finals. But I'm not going to a party either, I'll be reading a book.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Might have a bit of toast later.
So, this is Saturday night just before Xmas.... how exciting.
Does it get better than this?
I had quiche and tomatoes for dinner, should have popped round to my place. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? OMG it's 42C today. It's blimmin' boiling. I am just a sweaty mess and we're about to go to carols by candlelight. 5 hours in a baking hot park singing carols and watching stupid fireworks.
On a brighter note, the Generalissimos won an electric toy quad bike at the club this afternoon. They are very chuffed.
I hope they plan to do the correct thing for the season and ebay it (with 10% to charity) to a family chavy enough not to be embarrassed to be seen riding it illegally on the pavement.I think....0 -

Living the bloody dream here mate!
I've taken the Generalissimos to the fun fair. Everyone stinks of insect repellent and BO due to the heat. The cicadas are deafening and to top it all The Boy has got the hump and decided that he CBA with the fairground rides now I've paid.
The worst thing about it is they don't even sell beer.0 -
So funny Generali....my afternoon will be spent at an outdoor carol concert. Good job its fairly mild here and sunny at the moment. There will be mulled wine and mince pies.Spend less now, work less later.0

It's over thank the Lord. At one point I thought that I would have to stab my eardrums out with BBQ skewers but I got through it in the end.
About 15,000 people went to this thing and they got a local hospital to provide a choir of people that had received serious and life changing brain injuries as a result of illness or accident (seriously, I'm not joking). It's great that these patients get to sing as a part of their treatment and I'm very glad that my taxes are being used so wisely. I do, however, question the wisdom of inflicting 30 minutes of their singing on 15,000 people. Many couldn't even enunciate words let alone actually sing. It was patronising in the worst way, in that 'we should all applaud this person because they are ill rather than because of the great things that they can still do as a human being'. Horrible, horrible, horrible.
It's 11 at night and it's still 30C. I've got the air con on full blast to try to get the house down below baking hot. I think I sunburned my bald patch hanging out the washing today . Mrs Generali is definitely sunburned.
Those poor beggurs down south have had a run of 6 40C+ days.
One of the great pleasures on a day like today is to go to the local offie (bottle shop) and go into the giant beer fridges they have that are about 10ft x 30ft typically (they vary in size) and are kept at a fraction over 0C, the maximum temperature at which Aussies consider beer to be palatable. No bottle shop for me today, just bloody carols.:mad:0 -
Flowers? DS2-GF bought me flowers and now I need to reciprocate and don't know what to buy. criteria is that it has to be small/ light enough for DS2 to take on the train.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Fancy jam/pickles/chutney from a local market or deli? (Or even homemade if you can do it).
Most Christmases I make a batch of pickle of some sort that I can give to people that I wouldn't really want to give a flashy present to but that I do want to give a token to. I normally make onion marmalade as it's cheap and easy to do and also a bit unusual.
Basically it's a load of sliced onions cooked in red wine vinegar with sugar, chili, salt, a couple of tomatoes and a pepper. Once the mix is cooked down you put it into sterilised jars. It generally goes down well.0
