That sibling's not interested in reciprocation, she shops like there's no tomorrow and is in a position to pick up this/that/the other here and there and genuinely enjoys giving presents to people without expecting/requiring anything in return.

Hope she isn't thinking to herself that PN always expects a present but never reciprocates!

She is probably the one that started off younger sibling's sense of entitlement.

There's nowt wrong with Office 2003 .... especially if you also obtained that by 'stealth' :)

About the time of Office 2003 I paid £500 for Office XP developers edition.

I always buy my software. Same with music and film.

DD is having her party in the rooms on the other side of the house. We have been banished to the lounge!

The orders have been given - NO playing of records. Spotify is better for a party anyway.

(I can't afford hundreds of pounds for a new cartridge again. Beer and expensive turntables dont mix)

edit: I meant DD, not DW.

I just bought Office 2016 Professional under their Home User Program. It's a thing Microsoft do where if you use Office at work they will sell it to you very cheaply for home use. I paid about £7.

Posh alert! Here we're mixing rooms (plural) ... AND having a whole "other side of the house" :)

    :rotfl:

    I wish!

When we changed the layout of the downstairs I wanted to be able to give the kids space (and still spy on them ;) )

Every one of the houses I went into in Canada, including the ones my family own, are much bigger than what we typically get here. I reckon Gen would say the same is true in Aus.

    That's a good deal.

Tbh, I try to use Open Source when I can. Even Google Docs is often sufficient.

It's the business/development software where Microsoft makes its money.

I'd like Visual Studio Ultimate, but even in the USA I think it was $13,000 dollars. That's a lot when you factor in the need to renew/upgrade every year.

In the 80s I used some AI software which was £50K a copy - single user. Now, that was expensive.

CK, did you get your Jaguar SUV?

I think we need a test drive report when you do have it :)

They're not released until April, and it's going to be (officially) replacing OH's Yeti. The lease price wasn't so bad, too, bearing in mind it's going to have 100k miles when it goes back (after 2 years). Ironically, it's cheaper to lease for 24/100k than 36/150k.

I like Jags, OH likes 4x4s, so we think it's going to cause a lot of arguments.

DW's 5-series is a better handling car than my 4x4; in fact it's a superior car on most levels.

...but I think I still prefer the 4x4, truth be told.

Mind...my favourite car to drive was a beat up VW Caddy pick up. You could chuck anything in the back :)

Have you been round the Jag plants? They've spent a lot of money by all accounts.
