Good to hear from lemonjelly! Glad all's well on the job front. Was wary of the new Autumn statement's effect on the college sector, but relieved now.

Nikkster. I'm very impressed. That is most exceptionally nice listenable music. I am tempted to look her up on the neverendingplaylist.

Stir fry quorn, then add a sauce. Taste's fine.

I also make fish finger sandwiches. When I'm lazy they are microwaved fish fingers!
I like quorn. Great for spag bols, lasagne, and shepherds pie on tap!

I think that price only works if your employer has the right sort of licence. Annoyingly DS2's employer is the right sort of employer but doesn't seem to have done so. I don't think universities have a licence that would cover students either.
Students get office 365 free now I understand.

My emploiyer supplies MS Office on work computers and we allegedly have a version of Office 365 we can run on our macs and PCs at home. Only problem is, I've got a recent version of Office on my mac. If I load a free version via work, what happens if work change their mind? Do I have to delete software and find old disks and reload stuff? Is Office 365 better than Office 2011 and does it run alongside it or does it delete the old version? I don't want to take on a benefit that might have compicated disadvantages for me

    I'm no help Zag.

I don't really like MS software, despite having to buy and use it, because it gets used at work sites.

With MS you get locked in to the constant upgrade cycles.

Oh, and the colleague I work closest with is the absolute spitting image of doozergirl. In fact, I did a double take when we first met!

    Who has their tree up?

We bought one on Saturday - it is still naked. I bought some lights earlier but CBA to put them on.

I'm too busy looking at brussel sprout baubles online :o

Tree chez jelly went up on the 4th. Finished decorating on the 5th. Built the santa on the 6th.
There's 2 trees here. The main one (too old now though, and looking worse for wear, needs replacing & this'll be its last year) is in the lounge. There's a smaller one in the music room that someone was going to throw so I acquired for free anyway.

All this talk of cars... I have taken delivery of my new shiny baby Kia. Thanks so much for the recommendation Gen. After you said they were good, I looked into them in much detail. So far have been absolutely delighted. I only need a small car, it sips petrol through a straw, has bags of kit on, and now that I don't have to pay a shedload of tax and have fixed price servicing and a seven year warranty, it's only going to cost about £90 per month net to own it.

The dealer had to show me how to use Bluetooth though. He did ask me if I had Bluetooth on previous car, but I had to break it to him gently that he was probably still on the throne when my previous car was built.

It's software "upgrades" I'm especially luddite about.

It's all Orwellian- it's like; we're upgrading your chocolate ration to zero % and it'll contain stuff that means you can't taste old familiar flavours anymore but don't complain, you need to keep up with the shiny new improved tomorrow.

Seems perfect for what you need :)

I spend a minimum of 20 hours a week behind the wheel (usually more), so I value big, comfortable leather seats over economy. Still getting 45-50mpg from the XE, though, so it's not so bad.

I had to ask the dealer to plumb my phone into the new car, and was part exchanging a car with a very similar system. I'm not so good with technology, and didn't know that when it's plumbed in through USB cable, it both charges and the phone itself works through the radio.

I can also download music through the bluetooth (although never have) and stream using either Spotify or iTunes (the stuff downloaded on the phone)

Still too high-tech for me, though.

This time next week, I will have all the boys back under one roof again....until the Saturday night as me and Josh are off to London for the weekend as we are going to see Nightwish (Josh's birthday present to me earlier in the year).

Update on Josh and uni - he is having the time of his life, he is one of the popular kids, his musical talents are very much in demand after a bit of a eek start when some of those in his year group just saw a fat kid and didn't want to work with him. All changed though when they realised just what he could do and on having to choose members for the next lot of class bands, everyone wanted him.

He is also in a band outside of uni as the drummer and a singer, one night at pre drinks, he was spotted air drumming and singing, questions were asked of his friends, video links were supplied and then he was approached....now we have the logistical nightmare of getting the rest of his kit up there (he took half of it up at the beginning) and finding a way of storing it in his room.

He also had a video drum cover professionally done by a producer, which then involved a Skype chat interview regarding it.

There is also the possibility of him performing some songs at his old high school next Thursday with him on his guitar and singing and no one else....something he wouldn't have done before, he just didn't have the confidence.

I knew going to uni would be the making of him, he used to be so full of confidence but the Academy had drained it out of him, he's got all that back plus more!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
