Yes, according to my brother you take your kitchen* with you in Germany too. It seems such a strange idea when your new kitchen is likely to be a different size/shape <scratches head in bafflement>
ETA Good luck CK! just read your post.
* I'm talking about fitted kitchens!0 -
Good luck CK - even if you lose, which I'm sure you won't, there's always something mildly pleaant bickering with the council.
I'm bickering bcause I drive a van and they won't let me in the council tip. I want to get rid of my ironing board. The kitchen man who has an estate car can take all sorts of rubbish in there. frequently. Grrr.
PN, yes that's the kind of thing, though possibly a bit lighter.
I'm looking at 630 wide, preferably 50mm depth. It's all just under counter for me. I'm going for laminate, the wallpaper is hyper expensive, the extractor fan costs nearly half of what the units/fridge/freezer/oven/hob does - that says more about the units that the hood;) I don't like cooking, try not to do too much - once a week and freeze is quite enough in my opinion. No point in spending then really:p0 -

I'm happy to no longer be elected, although am still dealing with a few cases I had before MayI'm bickering bcause I drive a van and they won't let me in the council tip. Anything I take into the tip obviously belongs to a media company, however, which could have something to do with it.
Brought a 9 seat Mercedes Sprinter home last night, because someone blocked my car in with it and I couldn't be bothered to spend all night moving stuff around the car park to get out.💙💛 💔0 -
Mines a small Vauxhall Combo, I have it for the dogs rather than trashing a car, and it's as comfortable as a car anyway.
My tip are very picky. All work's waste is taken away by private refuse collection ( one small bin a week, we don't generate much ) so I'm not trying to tip commercial waste.0 -

I don't like integrated, built in, modern, kitchens. I prefer stand alone units. I believe, in France, you take your kitchen with you.... that'd suit me. You can have what you want, where, without needing an expensive fitter. Move/swap stuff out on demand.
...
Completely the opposite here PN.
I don't want to see appliances if I can help it. Clean, clutter free , stark, sterile ... people will see kitchens in different ways.
You can get a decent microwave for a hundred quid. An inbuilt one that looked the part cost us 8 times that (hey, made in UK though -- explains why it broke down once)

I just don't like all that thinking about it, having all the right things in, to then stand and chop/prepare/cook stuff, and stand over it, watching/occasionally turning/poking/testing etc ... until it's ready....
Then having to serve it up and it's gone in 2 minutes flat ... and when you return to the kitchen with your plate there's all manner of stuff that needs washing up!
An utterly unrewarding - and isolatory - experience. It gives me feelings of abandonment and loneliness. Hate it.
Nuke is king..... SC's knight ..... toaster's a great friend.
Today I've had a cheese sandwich. Later I'll have a banana.
I couldn't even face nuking a chicken curry/rice ready-meal I bought.
I don't know why I fEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

*envy*
Ours is "homely". which justifiably implies anything but stark.
My kitchen is not fully fitted. We have a large glassfronted bookcase in it, the top half of which we use for glasses and display of an art deco tea set. The bottom half has curtains behind the glass door to hide the casseroles, serving platter/bowls/assorted useful mixing bowls/cake stands/tureens that live there. I need a good tidy up/clear out.
When our kitchen was built, we unconciously included a cupboard to hide the dishwasher in the design. The cupboard door was removed the day after installation as we could'nt see the point and the dishwasher isn't an eyesore and we ha not really intended to hide it.0 -
we arechoosing wallpaper for our bedroom. swatches arrived today.Sittingroom overdue refurbishment, but I hate shopping and trying to create a "look". Currently the look has taken 32 years of family life and the individual efforts of 3 generations of large dogs and quite a few cats, to perfect.
We need every thing by way of soft furnishings. Rugs, curtains, sofas, cushions, A well fitted chair for me. Cant be done on the internet as need to comfort test, and paralysed by indecision when ever I enter a shop.0 -

Random exercise for NP.
Lay down on the floor on your back.
Raise yor right arm and move it back over your head as far as it will go.
Do the same with your left arm. Both arms should be fully extended and at full stretch.
Your arms should be equal and you should not be in any pain.
Put your hands together and place them on the top of your head in the middle.
I can do this too. Today I got 100% range for this movement in my left arm. Functionally this means I have the range to wash my hair using both hands. Go me.0
