Quite frankly, in 1960s-thinking-mode, if he can't make an honest woman of her then the world's a shabby place!
In a Lesbian marriage, is one partner more honest than the other?
Do they fight it out to work out who is made an honest woman?0 -
Re the earlier question...
I think I would say something along the lines of:
"Your dad and I have always had some money put aside to help when you leave home. As you're moving in, would you like that towards new furniture or would you rather have the money to buy something for yourself?"
I wasn't in that situation, but I can hear my mum saying something like that if I was. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Thanks all.
The Christmas household stuff is a good idea, and I will suggest to OH we give a card and something consumable ( she does not drink) when the great day arrives. Bf has a mortgage. So her long term wellfare is still our priority for her deposit on the otherhand we could blow it on a motorhome and stuff for us!
We have not asked anything about joint financial plans, I have a great regard for her privacy and also feel that any question raised would go down like a rat sandwich. I will put a tin hat on before opening my mouth.
Maggie, not cheapskates just working with the hand you have been dealt. We had been saving for a deposit for her, my early retirement meant that we could use some of the lump sum rather than saving from income.0 -
My parents gave me a substantial amount of help when we bought last year. I had been renting with OH for about six years by then and it was a nice surprise to get some help - they told us after we had started to look for a place to buy and it meant we could increase our budget and buy a nicer place.
Your DD's situation is different as he already has a mortgage but whatever arrangement they have decided on then i expect now is not the time to present some cash. Perhaps if they move house and buy somewhere together that would be a good time to make the gift.0 -
Took Mrs Generali to see the preview of Spectre last night. That was fun

SPOILER ALERT:
James Bond is put into perilous positions several times but survives.0 -

I've still not managed to see Spectre. I'm not hugely familiar with all the old Bond films but I out of the recent ones Daniel Craig is definitely my favorite. I think the films have generally been better than in the Brosnan era too.0 -

Stats etc are meaningless. People bandy about the common terms without them having any set meaning.
I can work in an office, in my car, in a clients living room (occasionally) or anywhere inbetween.
Laptops and iPads and the various other electronic gadgets I keep with me make it so easy to work anywhere.💙💛 💔0 -

:rotfl::rotfl:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
