Who owns the ebu? Why would they allow an uncompetitive tender process? They stand to lose, so why don't they act?
I don't know who owns it.
I've asked for a registered name and company number, however nobody seems to be able/willing to answer the question.
I will let you know as soon as I find out, as I know it's private, but don't know what the structure is.
My protest isn't even at the way the tender proces was handled, it's at the way Kath has been treated, after the 3 years of hard work and dedication she's put in.
I personally don't consider any of Kath's questions unreasonable, and feel it's only fair that the company that will probably win the tender is given the chance to put their views across on how it will be managed.
This is ultimately public money being used after all.
ETA: Pinged an email to Jill Evans (MEP), as she's the best person I can think of to get to the bottom of it.💙💛 💔0 -

Does this help?

Not really.
I wrote out a detailed post, and have copied/pasted it, but I need to get advice before I'm in a position to post it online.
I know this is 'private' part of the forum, however I'm already under threat of legal action, and don't know how far my online activities are being tracked.💙💛 💔0 -
If you've ever logged on to here via Wi-Fi that the EBU could see then they can know your login details and thus link you to your online persona here.
We run tens of thousands of Wi-Fi nodes at work as we own a bunch of shopping centres. We use free Wi Fi to make demographic assumptions about our shoppers: your phone will try to connect to all the WiFi connections listed so someone who has a bunch of fast food places in the list is likely to be in a different demographic to someone who has a bunch of international hotels for example. Once they have their WiFi on we can follow each individual through the shopping mall.
We could also harvest other data such as passwords but content ourselves with following the sites they go to.0 -

On my mobile, yes.
Currently changing passwords for everything, not because I have something to hide, but because my personal messages are private and (unlike the scandal in May) there's no allegation I've done anything wrong. We run tens of thousands of Wi-Fi nodes at work as we own a bunch of shopping centres. I don't know what info they store or whether they can/could actually get into the rest of the documents on my phone/laptop/ipad.
I thought I was quite security conscious, but it turns out I may not be.....
Your system has to be brilliant to catch shoplifters💙💛 💔0 -
Now she's in Northumberland, looking up the Delaval family - Sophia's father. She meets an expert on the family at Delaval Hall.
http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/seaton-delaval-hall/
Frances is shown a painting of Sophia. Then a painting of the father, Lord John Delaval. He inherited that house in unusual circumstances. He was the youngest son, his older brother Sir Francis loved a party. The parties were expensive. John started to get worried; Francis was a gambler. Brother runs up £45k of debt. In 1756 Sir John and siblings got a private Act of Parliament and raised a mortgage to pay off the debt. Sir John is then the head of the family, replacing the older brother, which was unusual.0 -
Not addressing this to anyone in particular, but...... the BBC pay a large amount of money each year to the EBU as UK is of the Big 5. In addition to Eurovision, the EBU has bloc voted for the TV rights to major sporting events, in particular the Olympic Games which have traditionally been shown on the BBC as a result of that bloc.
This was the real jewel in the crown for the BBC. The Eurovision is fun, and brings in several million viewers, but the Olympic Games has been on a totally different scale. However the BBC will lose its right to broadcast the games as this right has been won by Eurosport/Discovery. Therefore the BBC may well question what the hell it has been paying the EBU for. Oh, and it's not just the BBC that's smarting, but broadcasters all over Europe.
Here's some light background reading:
The new deal:

http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-sports/rte-loses-rights-to-the-olympic-games-31337890.html
In 2012 the BBC paid £1.2m to the EBU, of which £310k was for entry to Eurovision:

In other words, there appear to be problems at many of their doors...
I'd be looking at the BBC and their funding and addressing any questions at that particularly sensitive wedge. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? On a different note, I am reading a book at the moment about corruption at FIFA. How the money gets hidden in different Swiss Cantons and bank accounts in the Cayman Islands. The degree of fraud would appear to be eye watering. Not making any links of course, but what these non-elected pan-national organisational bodies get away with is staggering.
This is the book by the way. It's a bit too visceral to be good investigative journalism, but it is interesting none the less:
