Have you visited Tasmania yet? Another great place for the big outdoors. I'm hoping to spend two or three weeks there on my next big trip.

Yup, plenty of meat on a goanna I reckon.

Never been to Tassie. I've been to VIC, QLD, the ACT, NT and NSW. Fine places all. Everyone I know that's been to TAS reckons it's amazing, just beautiful. I'd like to get the ferry there but it's pretty pricey.

SC- Are your weekend plans still intact- has your mum arrived safely and funeral gone as well as it could?

Yes and yes. Thanks for asking.

Mum went there and back in a day, having been offered a lift. This was probably too much for her in retrospect, but it was her choice. So weekend plans stayed intact. Very nice dinner out. DS1 got on well with DS2-GF, who is just delightful.

So all in all things went as well as can be expected.

Confession time. Ikea is another Apple to me. Ordinary products overpriced because people have bought the marketing.

However I have an Ikea cupboard as it was surplus to requirements from my brother and want some extra shelves. Is it possible to get these without having to trek to and around an ikea store?

Yes, they deliver, but you may not want to pay the delivery charges being a money saver. Ideally visit in the week when it is quiet.

Went shopping to replace our DVD player and picked up a Sony one for £79 that claims to also play Playstation games. If that is true, why do people by expensive playstations?

    *unreasonable grumble alert*

I keep a record of passwords in the family addressbook. Over the last year OH has booked GP/Nurse appointments and ordered repeat prescriptions online. He has changed the password, not told me, not written it down ( entirely consistent with his behavoiur towards his own passwords) I am trying to order a prescription and book appts and cannot get in. I have all the time in the world so it can wait until tomorrow- he is shooting today and we are at the theatre tonight. It has irritated me though. I know it is me, not him. I needed to express my grumpiness here to save me from moaning at him later.

Why NP should witness my petty selfishness I don't know. Sorry.

*assurance that my sense of perspective mode is now restored*

So annoying. I sympathise. OH has some regular passwords, so he tells me to try X, and if not X then Y, and if not Y then Z. Problem is his list is so long now that I often get locked out in the process. Then I get blamed for not trying them in the wrong order.

Had a nice day to celebrate a big birthday for my dad today ... a month early!

Canada sis stopped over en route to a conference or something in Brussels, so we decided to hold a family bash early.

How is it when families get together the result is always more expense?

I somehow committed to the Vancouver Marathon next year. It does look fantastic though :)

Anyone else watching Strictly? That last dance was outstanding! And in week 3. I got emotional!

    You're so right :)

DW and DD both do ballet and other dance, and they are very quick to pick up on a contestant with great natural poise and control.

Hope the day went well. I love Canada. Its like the US without the ... well, we all know what I mean.

My mate went back to Vancouver after working here and loves it.;)

We haven't had the pleasure of Vancouver much yet. Canada is so big we ran out of time when we reached Southern BC last time.

Sis says we can take the boat out, which is moored in Vancouver.

Now, by boat, she means a 40 foot yacht, and I don't think she realises I struggled with a Hobie Cat! I think I'd be out of my depth.

As Generalis posts show, there are some really fabulous places around the world. I'd love to see more of the Balkan states, and do more exploring on the Western coast of Scotland.

Even if it does play play station games which seems unlikely to me (perhaps old ones?) it isn't going to have online capability and most gaming these days seems to be about shooting things controlled by a 12 year old American kid rather than the game's AI.

To be fair, the worst thing a goanna is going to do is trip you up. The red belly will give you a nasty nip but I've only ever seen a red belly's Aris as it runs away from me!
