I met DW at a party hosted by my dead dog's vet. She (DW) is a cousin of the vet. And we knew the vet because my mother was the vet's wife's gynaecologist.

    Anyway, congratulations Viva.

Our meeting was equally tenuous. I was set up on a blind date by my ballroom dancing partner. He thought I'd get on well with the "braniest person I know'. There was an overwhelming wave of relief on my part when I saw that no tank tops or pen protectors were involved. The rest as they say, is history.

I met Mrs Generali at kicking out time outside the pub. Very unromantic.

So you didn't even have to buy Mrs G a drink? Well it's very MSE I suppose.

We batted on to the Sports Caf! on the Haymarket. She couldn't believe that London pubs shut at 11 so I suggested a few places. We met her and her mates again in the queue.

I love that yours involved the tenuousness of a second meeting on the first night. Imagine if she hadn't taken your advice? Or you didn't see each other in the queue? Then you'd be living in a different country and there would be no Generalissimos. Life is so wonderfully random sometimes.

I suggested 3 or 4 places to her so the most likely thing was she'd go somewhere else. I was smashed and in no fit state to pick anyone up!

I start most days with a cup of hot water, and spring of rosemary and sometimes slice of lemon. Its delicious. The rosemary makes all the difference.

And your spelling in English is better than a lot of English people's English spelling, let alone how any of us would manage in French or Flemish or whatever your mother tongue is. :T
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
