I ended up doing lots of miles (well for me anyway) yesterday. The college bus sailed right past youngest (as he did for a few other stops and students too), so I had to drop James off at work quickly and double back to pick youngest up and take him to college.

    College is not close.....

Got back, had a cup of tea and then had a message from youngest....he shouldn't have been at college (despite being told that was the day to turn up AND he had a letter stating the same), so back up to college to pick him back up again.

Finally, I then had to drop youngest off at the house and go straight down to my parents and take them to the big hospital.....which is near to the college.

By 1 yesterday, I had travelled over 120 miles, I didn't count after that.

The end result of yesterday was that the college had a screaming match with the bus company for sailing past stops and then not providing the bus at the end of the day (the poor woman at the college was still there at 9 last night trying to sort everything out), youngest was peed off, I was shattered and had to rest for a while and dad goes in for an operation next week.

Oh and my fuel light has come on, so got to put some in today.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Three times a week I thank the Lord for Aussie petrol prices. 60p/l roughly if you shop around a bit.

Have been to the petrol station twice this week, reminds me that having to unplug the car before driving off is not really that much of a hardship....
    I think....

More likely I'm just guessing wildly.

Petrol is what £4.80 a gallon and the car does 40mpg. 200 miles would be £24. Does that sound better?

Sorry, I completely misread your original post and thought it was 100 miles round trip. I was on the phone when I replied to it :o

£30 for both ways sounds a lot more reasonable, £24 even better :)

The UK is really courteous compared to Georgia, the best example probably being that in the UK, flashing lights means 'you have right of way' where in Georgian it literally translates to 'get out the ****ing way'.
Yes, UK driving is courteous compared to most of Europe. Dutch are fine also. Belgians are quite aggressive and non courteous. (in traffic;))
What annoys me about the French is those mofo's in the fast lane putting their left indicator on permanently. I think it's similar to a 'get out of my way' headlight flash.
Eastern Europe is dire. Nobody ever heard of giving way.

I once drove in Lebanon, that was fun. Driving from Beirut up steep mountain roads to the Faraya ski resort in Mount Lebanon. Everybody, and I mean everybody beeps their horn at least every 10 secs or so. Also as a means of saying 'beep beep i'm here, watch out'. Quite overwhelming at first but after a while I blended in and happily beeped along. I have beeped more in those 3 weeks I was there than I beeped in the rest of my life! :)

I figure that I get 10 miles/litre.... so I know that whatever the signs at the pumps are saying this week is what I pay per 10 miles. Then there's a few pennies/mile for depreciation, maintenance, insurance, tax, tyres, etc .... so I just "round it up" as I see fit to make the mental maths immediate.

e.g. fuel at £1.20/litre translates to 15p/mile as it's 12p/mile and I round it up to 15p for "the other things".

100 miles would be about £15 with that back-of-fag-packet-maths.

The worst driving I've experienced in Europe - by far - was in Naples. I have been there three times and each time the standard was dire and made me glad not to be travelling by car myself. Overtaking on a roundabout, driving the wrong way up a slip road to get ahead in a traffic jam and just pulling out without any reference to signage was commonplace. I dread to think what the accident rate is there.

    ...

    Lol

Your indicator comment took me back to driving on the periperique (when it was moving). Initially, I thought they had just forgot to turn it off, but nope....as you say!

Arc de triumphe at rush hour....now that's just chaos isn't it.

But....worst place? India I reckon must rank up there.

I think Enid Blighton wrote the fuel economy pages for my car manual.

    47mpg combined ?!!! No way.

It's got all the aerodynamics of a house brick; must weigh several tons; and sits on fat rubber.

Driving in a convoy of nuns couldn't push it past 40mpg.

I was leading a convoy of 10 London Taxis when we had to traverse l'Arc de Triomphe roundabout in the days before sat navs.

The handy thing about London cabbies' driving was that we got all 10 across in one go without a single car breaking the convoy. Was brilliant :)
