Cold caller: phoning to do an electoral poll.

CC: who will you vote for in the general election?

    me: party X

CC: who did you vote for last election?

    me: Party X

CC: and the election before that?

    me: Party X

CC: Would you consider yourself a swing voter? :rotfl:

Thanks for the new thread Zag, I apologise for not being sooner, I've been otherwise engaged

I will be back later, currently on the phone trying to sort out contracts for one of the new companies (we have 2 started in the last month) with DD1 on the other office phone having more sales success than I am (!)

Compared to others here, I feel a bit of a fraud, but I am almost totally disabled today. I tripped over a bollard yesterday and fell quite heavily. I thought it was just a grazed knee and walked home. Then I got dragged round shopping. Today, I can't put any weight on my knee or even bend it. I tried going downstairs but gave up. It gets really, really, really painful if I bend it more than about 60 degrees. I guess that I have bruised something inside.

Ouch! Is it swollen? Heat or cold (hot water bottle or frozen peas pack) or alternating can sometimes help. And those sleeve things can help stabilise, not sure what they're called, made of elasticated stuff, come in different sizes for ankles, knees, wrists etc. Hopefully a day of keeping your leg elevated will help.

Maggie I hope you managed to get a good night's sleep and feel less weary this morning. Thanks for the grape hyacinths! I've got some too. x

Thanks, had a much better night last night. Did wake for a little in middle of night and watched some of 24 hours in ER, but it was same as one I saw earlier in the evening so sent me off to sleep again! :rotfl: Might even get up later. We're having roast chicken for a lateish lunch, then OH is off to dentist as he lost a filling last Thursday. Always the way with filling losses in this family, just before a holiday! <roll eyes smiley> Then he can call in at local T**co to pick up my latest purchase. Decided against the Fire 7 as they seem to have had something of a duff batch from the latest reviews, so have gone for a Hudle2 instead. Will order the mini card for it when am a bit more organised. Mostly want it to load on photos for OH to take over to show his Mum. At least got it almost half price as OH used up his club card points, not quite enough to save the full half price, but we really needed something he can use for photos now rather than waiting to save more points.

Well I found out today where my Pop[Lady Dog] emails have been going so have been reading a back catalogue. I apologise now for the terrible, off-colour posts that will result in the next week or so.

So Eurovision. UK entry was written by 2 blokes, one of whom wrote the Jim'll Fix It theme. It also sounds remarkably like the Waffles ad:

Then there are the jokes. The cleanest? Even that's too rude for Nice People.

Whilst it is not a great system I don't see what else they can do, they have limited staff members so how else to meet the surge in demand after weekends and especially bank holiday ones.

They could try the excellent triage system in place at my GP practice, which I have detailed on a previous post:

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

It certainly sounds familiar, but that's no bar to winning Eurovision. Didn't Michael Row The Boat Ashore win one year? Yes, found it, 1979. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C33kO3fvjkI
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Thanks, i tried a sports knee brace for a bit.

Tubigrip is the stretchy stuff you are probably thinking of. I tried that too. :)

I think I need to relax, so I have tried a glass of the 72% (not proof!) slivovitz we bought for Passover. It's okay diluted with a large amount of water.

Ibuprofen will help reduce any inflammation. GnT is generally considered to be good for the psyche.

Slivovitz is excellent for cleaning mirrors and degreasing heavy machinery however you probably shouldn't be doing either thing as you sit on the sofa for the next couple of days.
