Thank you everyone. She is described by the rescue centre as a terrier cross. They don't specify what kind of terrier, or what it's been crossed with, so I imagine that "terrier cross" is a euphemism for "mutt with terrierishness about her", although perhaps lir or other NP will be able to suggest what's in her genetic heritage when I post pics. She is black all over, and while not a puppy, not very old either.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I love the Oval. It's my favourite Test ground that I've been to. Lords is full of pompous !!!!!!. The SCG is a good ground but the pavilion is in the wrong place, it should be behind the bowlers' arm and isn't.
Arundal is my favourite 1st class ground. Definitely worth a visit.
I lived just the other side of oval tube station from the ground for a couple of years - the main issue for me was the lack of any even half decent drinking establishment anywhere near the ground. For the avoidance of doubt the Stockwell swan does not count.
I've been to Edgbaston, Trent bridge, lords, oval, MCG and SCG to watch tests. I think they are all great places to watch cricket, each for different reasons. However, I do find it annoying that at lords the stewards behave ludicrously and you often miss several overs trying to get back to your seat just because they are so petty about letting people through. It's one thing when you're behind the bowler's arm but square on it is just silly - especially when they are unashamedly charging you £110 a ticket.
I think it's a shame we don't have a big stadium for cricket in the UK like the MCG. Demand for tickets in London could easily fill a stadium that size for big matches but we don't have a sport played on an oval like Aussie rules that could share such a stadium to make it economically viable.0 -

The Swan at Stockwell was a good music venue and they were thin on the ground in that area. There weren't many pubs at all near the Oval IIRC. Albert Square had the Royal Albert. Fentiman Road had the Fentiman Arms. Not much else around there.
Vauxhall was a really convenient place to live but not to go out in.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

EDIT; Well, that went well. It's all done. Just got to load the car now. It was about 45 minutes actual work - but the phone rang twice so that took 45 minutes of my time. I had lots of sit downs and breaks.
I was very careful to go very slowly as there are lots of staples and sharp ended pins/nails in it, so I had to ensure I didn't step back onto a piece of wood with 6 sharps sticking out, or try to pull something that suddenly went so I had to reach/grab anything to steady myself and grab some nails. So, all done veeerrry slooooowly.
Didn't have to use any physical strength whatsoever.
Do you have some leather gardening gloves, pastures? The cheapo ones are about £2. Great for gardening and dismantling sofas. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Any Windows users here who signed up for the free upgrade to Windows 10?
