On turning up at James' halls to pick him up, it soon became clear that storage was needed..... 153 blooming quid later and I am stewing, soon to come to the boil.

How on earth do they accumulate so much stuff?

Daily texts the week before pick up, detailing clutter clearout.

"Be good idea to sort your paperwork, dump the subjects you are not carrying on with next year other than keep-for-ever stuff."

"I do the washing regularly, so throw the worn out clothes - including socks- you won't run out, promise"

"kitchen: I only want to see dishes etc that are perfectly clean and in a fit state to be used next year. In a box plse, its not coming in the kitchen"

"no food other than protein shakes"

"sort towels and bedding, throw anything wrecked. Remember need to be dry to be packed or clothes will stink"

    "ink leaks- sort your stationery"

If you send a message a day, the process starts early and only half of what you bring home is junk.

.... he'll be so fed up with the nagging he'll find somewhere else to go - so you save on fuel picking him up and snacks/food he'd have eaten at home.

When we collected #1 SS from his shared house in Hull (he was the 2nd last of the 5 to leave) we found 74 empty pizza boxes in the Kitchen, along with more empty bottles and cans than we could fit into a previously empty 360 litre wheelie bin, plus assorted other crap.

And this was a Kitchen that apparently had been cleaned the day before

I don't get involved in any cleaning. Yuk! Kitchen is a no go area, if he loses some deposit because of the mess that is down to him. I'm certainly not cleaning to protect a deposit that will be divided 6 ways.

If its too yuk for you then isn't it too yuck for some one who doesn't know or love your son?

I wouldn't do it, but I'd be getting him to do it.

I'm not at all opposed to cleaners, I think its a very effective way to filter money through the system, but I think there are attitudes to do it with.

Absolutely. Joint responsibility amongst him and his mates.

I'd be far happier if they kept the kitchen (at least) clean throughout the year.

When I was a student you tried to live off your grant, takeaway pizza certainly didn't feature on the menu.

    Does Theresa May know ??

It may be a known known, a known unknown, an unknown known, or an unknown unknown. I took that course when I was in the land of Donald Rumsfeld.

Speaking of which, I notice that you have changed your pic. Do you think the Bucs are actually going to go somewhere this year?

My nagging started a few weeks ago, this was the pared down version of his crap!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

James has become a master at preparing meals from the reduced section in Tesco, he has come up with some interesting concoctions, some successful, some very much not.

He apparently does a mean spaghetti bologneise now including making his own sauce...
