How are you doing? Mrs Gen's job started and OK, and how is mil doing.

Mrs Generali's job has started and is going just fine. It's just a 3 month temp job and any extension looks highly unlikely.

MiL is alive and kicking. She's tired but okay. Turns out that the thing was a known but rare side effect to a jab she had. It looked pretty nasty for a while though.

On turning up at James' halls to pick him up, it soon became clear that storage was needed..... 153 blooming quid later and I am stewing, soon to come to the boil.

How on earth do they accumulate so much stuff?
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

When I went to Uni I had a trunk and a stereo. When I left uni I had a trunk, a sports bag and a stereo.

I've never been a collector of crap. Mrs Generali on the other hand......sheesh.

On a general basics level excluding hobbies, we tend to require more basics for 'social norms'. Take toiletry bags. As well as what you guys have to fit in yours we have all that, a couple more products, often products aimed at helping care for longer hair ( that's presuming you don't have hair like mine that needs special products again) and a small make up bag, plus sanitary stuff. So that's more stuff before other social norms are looked at. Plus personality differences.

G holds on to more than me, I take more on a holiday suitcase.

Are you going to try it?

No, reading more, it's a bit more specific than that. I think all the family were in one trade- and everybody in the trade could do it .... but as people moved away they weren't in the trade. I am of the family, but not in the trade, so can't. Also ... it seems being in the trade is a closed shop and you can only be in the trade if you're in the family .... so I could go into the trade as a direct descendant. Unfortunately, direct from the really bad chap that legged it.

Also, it's a Charter that everybody agrees exists ...but nobody has actually found it. It disappeared sometime in the last 100-300 years ago, so they're not sure which King/Queen signed it, or where it was .... some old lady (100+ years ago) said she'd seen it when she was young and described it.

But it's a nice oddity to find.

When I knew I would be moving about I thought about that every time I bought something. I only bought small things, easily transported, or things I was prepared to leave behind and lose (e.g. the two 19p dinner plates from Ikea - only two, not even a full set as I knew I'd be leaving those).

That's also why I got rid of everything some years back - the cost of storage for the potential time would have been greater than the value of the goods stored.

I don't even have a toiletry bag. When I go away I have a toothbrush, toothpaste, interdentals and mouthwash tossed into a Tesco bag ... with a roll on deodorant. That's my lot.

For work I once had to go to London, stay overnight, go to Olympia, then return home. I figured nobody'd know if I wore the same clothes both days as it's different places - so I just lobbed deodorant, a pair of knickers, a toothbrush and toothpaste into my handbag :)

    No. So probably yes.

Not everybody smells. I'd had a shower in the morning.
