Sorry to hear about the electric daisies LIR :(

PN, although my F had several strokes, he didn't really have much wrong physically.....indeed the only medication he was on at the time of his discharge from hospital was for constipation!

As a result his needs were only scored as *moderate* in the Drug Therapies & Medication category of the DST (decision support tool) for continuing healthcare funding.

Overall his scores were - 1 severe, 2 high, 4 moderate, 3 low and 1 no needs.

The *severe* was cognition whilst the *highs* were behaviour and mobility.

I should point out that we didn't request the DST be carried out - it is a legal requirement before discharge from hospital. I later realised it should have also been done when he was in hospital a few years previously and seriously considered putting in a complaint, but too late and can't be a$$ed now.....

We were self-funding too - for both my parents and now they've both passed away, the pot as you say is virtually empty, having had to sell their house etc :o They did both, however get the £109 pw nursing element (paid directly to the home and not deducted from the fees we had to pay) although I think this was paid automatically because it was a nursing home as opposed to a residential home.....the fees were astronomical for one let alone two!

DH and me think we could perhaps have received more help from the state - for example we never applied for Attenance Allowance which I believe he would have been in entitled to at the highest level - but we're not that type of person in that we don't like to ask.

Please keep your fingers crossed that a little chick currently known as Mustard is a girl. Other wise the 'Suppers' tally compared to girls after last weeks fox cull is a bit depressing.

Don't worry... go bowling or something. :)
Any idea when you're going to get a response?
    Went bowling last night.
    Think I over-pitched the presentation.
Also wonder if I answered a question on "what attracts you to this job" badly (ie by not saying what a wonderful company/organisation they are).

Hope to know by the weekend.

Landline at new jelly. Mainly for t'internet, but also for parents who also have the free calls. A few friends too, though most don't answer landlines.

Today is ouchy. I've come back to bed.

Dog dog is spread along me keeping me warm.

Fir's electric Daisies died. He'll be so upset. :(

I lost a young apple tree in last week's wind :( Think it must have been leaning on some stuff that got moved/ tidied. Think it was an offspring from next doors garden. Apparently there was an orchard before our houses, and is a leftover tree from then.

    Thank goodness for my neighbours.
Let the house early this morning for a work day trip Oop North. Decided not to take my coat, remembered that I needed to take my keys from my coat pocket.
Picked up my car key instead of my house keys
    Lodger returned key on Sunday.
So glad I gave my neighbours a spare straight away rather than getting round to do it at some point in the future.

Key, in a plastic bag, bit of string 1' long or so. Dig a hole in the garden, bury it with 1/8" poking out, stick a random stone on top of it. .... or get a keysafe, which you'll need anyway when you're old and carers need to get in :)

With virgin, your landline usually offers free landline calls at weekends. But if you have a cable+ internet+phone package you can add a mobile contract for £5 per month for mobile/landline calls on weekdays. Worth it for us.

talktalk very generously give me an add on mobile contract for 3.75 per month less 40 to 60 quidco, simply take a new contract each year and they let me port the number internally. It is particuarly generous as I haven't been a landline customer with them for over a year but they haven't noticed that therefore I shouldn't qualify for the mobile contract at all. Do some people actually pay for mobile airtime?
    I think....

We have a very quiet house, DD1 has never been away before but has been on her 4 night school trip since Monday and there seems to be no provision for parent contact. I am sure she is fine but it is the first time for her she has not been put to bed and woken up by her parents so 4 days is going to be quite a change.
    I think....
