I definitely need someone who will give as good as they get. So long as they have well reasoned views.
Right now I could do with someone to give me a coffee, but I'll just have to compromise and make it myself.
I'm only joking. You don't spend 20 years in the financial services industry without being able to look after yourself. I make a very conscious effort not to be domineering in my personal life but I still get described as 'controlling'.0 -

Yeah, I guessed that
Thought today was worthy of a non-instant coffee, so whilst that was brewing I washed the kitchen bin.0 -

There's an article in todays Sunday Times saying 'salary sacrifice' could be for the chop in next months Budget. I assume you've finalised your arrangements for this year? I've posted part of the article on your thread in the Pensions Forum. I didn't bother posting a link as it's a subscription article.0 -
Tonbridge is a funny town really. A bit of a dump in a very nice part of the world.
True. Charity shops, Pound shops and Estate Agents! It's trying to become a bit more like Sevenoaks with an Artisian Bakery and other niche shops opening up in the Town! It's best selling point is it's rail links, having the benefit of both the Ashford and Hastings lines to London.0 -
Thanks. Salary sacrifice is in place. I need to make personal contributions to cover the NMW bit you can't sacrifice before December rather than April, something to do with pension input years but perhaps I will do them pre budget to be on the safe side. Currently thinking I will run this wheeze for a second year as well as I have just enough headroom using the three year contributions rollover allowance but I guess it depends if the rules still allow. The change to universal credit will knock 13.5k pa off the plus side so it is worth doing before then. Overall each year I do it I effectively move about 20k in savings into 50k in my pension fund although as things stand now the 20k has already been taxed and can be stashed in an isa whereas the 50k will be taxed at 20% when I get it.mystic_trev wrote: »michaels

Just rewoken up after the others went to church at 8.30, the house is quiet and it is a beautiful morning. I think I could join Nickster in the joys of living alone right now
I think....0 -
I got back into bed with my coffee. Just cooking up some brunch, which I might take outside and eat in the garden
Not so quiet here as I've got the radio on again
Edit: the rest of your post kinda whooshed as it flew over my head.
After the hard work yesterday we went out for food. My fortune cookie told me 'I doubt, therefore I might be'.
I've kept the little slip of paper.0 -
Bought a car yesterday.:)
I'll be sad to see Wheezy Mazda go.
What model was Wheezy Mazda and why replace?
I'm asking as Mazda is on my shortlist for new cars when I finally get round to buying one.
Though of course, I may now have to buy one of these:
