Stress!!! Never rains but pours...
Carers allowance didn't go in, turns out where youngest has been awarded PIP which isn't in place until the 24th, someone has messed up and stopped paymemt...even though DLA is still in payment until the 23rd. It should be a seamless changeover but it hasn't happened this time. They have immediately put the payment in place but this week's payment will take a further 3 to 5 working days to arrive.
Their balls up means after normal DD and standing orders went out this morning, I was left with less than £40...now less than £20 after doing basics shopping.
Arrgghh. ...We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Very touching article in the Grauniad by Christopher Eccleston about his Father's dementia. If you have time it's worth reading the comments too.0

My Dad died of pneumonia after having Alzheimer's for almost a decade. He reckoned it wasn't a bad way to go (having Alzheimer's that is) except for the impact on everyone else.
He certainly seemed very cheerful up to the end even if he was mostly gaga.0 -
In better news though, I lost 3lbs this week, I have now lost 2st 7.5lbs and Josh has lost 3 stone 3.5lbs!We made it! No.
Its been a bit of a drama at home has made it a bit stressful tbh. It was a busman's holiday because fir was playing with a friend's local group to raise money for brain tumour charity ( if any one would like to donate feel free to ask for just giving page!) so we knew he'd be busy at least half of both days and I would be 'on my tod' which is great. I really wanted desperately to go to the Pavilion, which ruled out dogs. Originally fir wanted me to book in a spa break for one of the half days but I didn't plan the ankle sprain and tbh, didn't want to spend the money on it, and wanted to be out seeing Brighton.
Some one I knew had a house over looking nudist beach many years ago, and I'd hoped to have a toddle down there for old times sake, but didn't manage to fit that in, nor to get up to the north lanes sort of area, but just pottering around somewhere 'new' ( enough) felt exhilarating, even at a gentle potter.
There are an inordinate number of dachshunds in Brighton, and that was a puzzler, I couldn't work out why. And more visable homeless people than it have noticed in cities here, but that might have been because I was in such a touristy area.0 -
I made challahs for tonight. First time I have done this. Fortunately, they rose. Wholemeal, which is worth at least one nom.
The crusts are a bit thin. Does anyone know how to make thicker crusts? Bake it longer and cooler, or shorter and hotter? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
