Grey damp and cold here too. It was raining quite hard last night, but is now only gently drizzling.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I offered some furniture on freecycle yesterday and sent contact details to someone who wants it and had responded quickly. I have heard no more and there are others interested. How long do I give the original party to respond before contacting somone else?

A few weeks ago I made a round trip of 80 miles to deliver some pretty nice hifi speakers to a guy for free. He has a disability and told me he can't drive.

Anyway, less than 48 hours later he texts me to ask me to collect them as he has bought some others. I'm beginning to think I was a free taxi!

I hope it works out Spirit, but sometimes if something is free there is a possibility the recipient doesn't value them.

That's pretty funny.... you couldn't make it up. It'll have cost you about £15 (fuel) to give them away!

Still wet here, but light rain, not pee'ing down. No heating on - window open.

Two of the hugest crusts ever, toasted ... and topped with 3 scrambled eggs and some brown sauce for breakfast :) It's nice to have a full/warm belly - and at a cost of about 30p

I spoke too soon. It is now pouring, just in time for us to go to church. A few years ago we would have driven round and round looking for a free on-street parking space and got soaked walking however far it was from where we parked to church. These days my finances have improved to the point where I just pay the few quid to park in the car park right across the road from the church, and we will get a lot less wet. :)

It struggled up to 14C today and is rapidly heading to 8C tonight. Might have to move to Queensland at this rate. My back does not like these temperatures.

That was my experience with the charity shops and MIL's furniture.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It's funny. I have a completely different frame of reference for temperature now.

A 28C day is great weather for riding in the mountains as you don't get cold on the descent. 35C is the start of hot and over 38C and I won't cycle more than 10 miles.

My rule of thumb in Sydney is that I'm okay if the temperature is colder than me but hotter than my fridge.

Anything over 25c and I start dozing off in the afternoon! :D
