My county show costs more than I'm prepared to pay for garden furniture to visit :D but yes, there are always some there. Charging more than they would road side I imagine, to pay for selling there.

I was shocked at the cost of a ticket.

They're not for peasants .... they're for the wealthy and upper classes to show off their livestock - and the middle classes to display and sell twee and organic/sustainable/eco items to their friends and to people who either want to be seen as middle class or who go because they've been talked into it :)

I was talked into it once, still not recovered from the cost, over 10 years later!

The ticket's one thing, but inside all the food/drink's super-pricey too

Its usually cheaper to enter some thing like a rabbit or a chicken and enter as an exhibitor. I don't know what horse classes cost these days, but if you had an eligible registered horse and wanted to go to a few it might even be worth paying subscriptions to enter a class at each show and then just withdraw but visit the show on your passes ( you get more than one).

It cost £16 for one day's entry when I went, looks like times are hard as this year's price is £18 http://royalcornwallshow.org/visitors/tickets/

Yes, all those upper classes with their pet rabbits entering the rabbit classes and the baking classes etc.

I thought the awfully twee thing that Kirsty did was good in that showed quite different sorts of people entering craft classes for example. Of course, the thing they had in common was a bent for crafts of some sort. But you could have a to at that PN.

Entrants really are drawn from across social strata, but certainly some lean more heavily in some areas.

I was reading about those last week, wondering whether they were viable or just a recipe for disaster. Not for me to run one, but to write about them.

Well of course I have decided it viable, with that I am not going down the automation line as I already have all the video equipment etc so it will be run by me and my apprentice.

What are you think about writing? I am happy to give any input from my experiences.

Then again recently someone suggested to me on facebook I should make money by selling m hair or running a chat line so I dread to think what use she might have in mind for a video booth....

No I don't have safe search on. The kids are repulsed by anything like that anyway at present.

The Boy just thinks anything to do with naked bodies outside the family is gross and The Girl has decided to adopt so she doesn't have to have sex. (I suspect this is a passing phase).

The things the Generalissimos search for a very specific and will be apparent on the first couple of entries. They search more on You Tube than Google anyway.

I'm undecided as to what to do once the kids start to search out pron on the computer. My instinct is to play dumb and let them so I can see what they're looking at and then nip anything nasty in the bud.

We have all the safety switches turned on in google which also covers youtube but of course there are other search engines available which the kids sometimes seem to manage to land on by mistake. I should probably turn on the ISP blocking but I don't really like the idea of my internet being filtered, it feels too much like sensorship.
    I think....

    Don't quote, will delete.

Personally I see the video/photo booth as a race to the bottom as a single industry, hence these franchise jobs popping up all over.

In short I can see its buy equipment for a couple of grand than charge £300-£700 per job and make your money back in no time, as you would guess its only a matter of time with people popping up all over trying to out do each other on price.

In many respects many aren't run by videographers/photographers as its more of a setup equipment and keep it running for a night.

I suppose I am going at it from a different angle, instead of booking us to film a wedding and then paying these guys to do a booth why not just keep the professionals around, costing to them is marginal as we would be around for the first dance etc anyway and of course add it as a option for a complete package.

We used to get some VIP badges every year for the local Farmer's show in the village.

It was expensive, but had one USP :) . Being a VIP meant you got to have a cup of tea out of proper china cups in the "hospitality tent".

    Err, woopidoo.

At least the money went to Rotary or something (possibly FIFA, who knows!)

PN I saw this and seem to remember you were thinking of something along these lines? We got a similar bed/mattress combo ad so far it is very comfortable and the ottoman is easy for my DW to use on the superking size so should be fine for you.
