Ohh, I don't think I've been to herts county, I don't remember it ATM anyway ( I used to do quite a big circuit of county shows) . Hope its fun!

I knew we'd worked hard yesterday and I do recognise I've overdone it but I am still glad we did. We managed to get the olive tree in place ( fir is so strong these days) but at one point I was left holding the thing up as it threatened to topple off a pallet and ...its heavy, and pokey and scratchy.

Today I have to do that freezer inventory....I have no idea what's in there now. Or the contents might get ideas and to the dance of the sugar plum fairy and get all mixed up and in the wrong boxes and because I don't know they are meant to be there I won't know and havoc will reign.

Is there a tractor pulling contest? I always get excited about those. Especially the custom tractors with twin 1000+ hp engines and the like. It's a bit like drag racing, with all the drama, only slower.

Not sure. So far I know there is a beer tent and a picnic, and I'm not driving. The rest will be a surprise :)

Hmm, before the freezer, maybe this stiff old body and I can face some more outside work after all. The restorative powers of Badedas are phenominal.

Gardening is what happens after a Badedas bath? ;)

I think we got around 5 in the end?

Off to the Inner Herts County Show today. Despite growing up in a rural county, I've never been to County show before.

We got five in the end, some of which were from Australia I think... thank goodness for their being in.

If we want to win, we need to go for the Melodiefestivallen route, which is how Sweden churns out their songs. They have a huge X Factor type contest that is the most watched tv programme in the country and just churns out winners. They have won twice in the past four years, they also came second to Conchita last year.

You'll find more countries will copy that format for success as it is literally a hit factory.

Did Austria and Germany get any points at all? They weren't bad songs either.

This time. Give me another one later and see what I do after that. :D

Some one I knew had a bath oil that smelled a little like Badedas but....more so. All I can remember about it other than the incredible smell was that she bought it at Harrods. I have googled but nothing jogs my memory to the name of it. I'd do more than garden for a bottle of that bath oil. The baths in it were glorious.

My sun pinkened skin IS a little tender this morning. My face however is fine. That boots no 7 sun cream ( the bb version for face, and normal for body ) seems to be the best I have used since this rosacea business started. Every year I stand gaping for hours and I finally satisfied myself that a. They work, as my poor application reveals, and b. the sun is not altogether lost to me now I have found something that works on my face!

It would be interesting to erect a little jump for them nd see whether they go over or round.

Do it. And then let us NP know what happens. :)

Guess the only thing that could change that would be moving job, but where I live is in the middle of a lot of potential other job places so could come instead. I think I'd stay here even if I won the lottery (though I'd be able to get the renovations done a lot more quickly).

    Or a man.

I'm settled in my job for the foreseeable future, and quite possibly until retirement, so I shan't be moving because of work. Getting remarried to a new bloke might change everything, though.

I have a pile of shoes by the front door. It really is a pile rather than anything neatly arranged.

Our shoes are in the hall, on a bookcase that we acquired when we cleared LNE's house. Three shelves, one for each of us. I've just recently purged it of the ones the DKs have grown out of, so the ones we actually use now all fit on.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Sitting outside in the sun/shade.... alone. Does anybody ever do that (for hours, not a half hour rest with a coffee).

What do people do out there, alone, for hours?

    Read
Tough times.... why does nobody tell us this WILL happen to us?

The people who know in advance that they will have to support their parents through that kind of thing are generally the people who witnessed their parents supporting their grandparents through it. I can't really remember a time before I knew that one day my parents would get old and need help and my brothers and I would be the ones to help them. In fact, as a child I assumed my dad would die first without needing much care, and that many years later my mum would deteriorate gradually and then it would be me and my hypothetical husband who would be looking after her in her old age. That's because I saw my parents looking after my mum's widowed mum, my dad's sisters and their husbands looking after my dad's widowed mum, and my mum's brother helping his wife look after hers. As things have turned out, my mum went first, and if/when my dad needs care my brothers will be sharing in the responsibility.

The people who have no idea what is coming and are taken by surprised when their parents deteriorate are generally the people whose grandparents died suddenly. Is that what happened in your family?

At least the younger NP whose parents aren't old yet won't be able to say in years to come that nobody told them.
