I have a pile of shoes by the front door. It really is a pile rather than anything neatly arranged. These are the shoes I wear most regularly - one pair of trainers, one pair of ankle boots, one pair of flip flops, and multiple pairs of flat semi smart (well, not trainers or flip flops) shoes that I wear for work.
I've been trying to think what to do with them.

It is difficult. I'd not call me a "person with lots of shoes", but you do end up with a lot...

I just leave mine by the door as I put them on/off every time I step outside.

We have a little seat with a cushion on, and two drawers underneath that we just throw shoes into. Came from the r@nge.

    Recently back from Owner Training.

This is the more accurate name for Puppy Training.

It's an opportunity for the trainer to tell all the dogs where the owner has been getting it wrong for the last few weeks!

Shoes are now out of their plastic bags ...and into the shoe rack. I thought it looked a bit small when I'd built it, but now it's populated I've a whole shelf free.

Moving the shoes enabled me to push the clothes hanging rail back by 6", which counts as "reorganised part of the spare bedroom", so that counts as "worked hard this bank holiday weekend"

    Time for a doughnut ....

    Old Jokes Home:

I asked Siri for a wake up call.

She sent me a picture of me as an old man, alone and unkempt surrounded by empty whisky bottles.

With 24 hour living/working, I think that jobs for health and security should be 24 hours: e.g. police to catch thieves and doctors to save lives.

But we don't need a loaf of bread at 4am. Nor do I need to phone a company to enquire if my order for a dress has been despatched, nor do I need to go into the local library at midnight (although evenings/weekends would be good).

It's a balance between life and limb need ..... and first world wants.

I'd have solicitors who work in some areas working to, say, 6pm on Fridays and all day Saturdays. e.g. take conveyancers where most people complete (and have a problem with that) on a Friday/Saturday. Same with the lenders advancing that money. Those jobs are part of well-being/housing/shelter, so more essential than, say, a solicitor who deals with defending a burglar ... they really need to work a LOT less, so more get locked up due to being unable to defend themselves adequately and get out of being a scrote.
You might not need those services then. But if you are the poor sod working the night shift or unsociable hours you might find it easier to access them then and get some sleep when the rest of us buy bread.

Sitting outside in the sun/shade.... alone. Does anybody ever do that (for hours, not a half hour rest with a coffee).

I'm in here and it's occasionally sunny out there. But there are flies (midges?) I can see hovering and flying around ... and the occasional gust of wind.

But, if I went out there I'd be doing what? Staring at the grass!

In here I've the comfort of a sofa, a telly and PC.

What do people do out there, alone, for hours?

I guess if I could have the telly and Internet out there I could see the point... but all the "things" are in this room.

On the other hand, the only people that could answer that are, too, inside, on their PC :)

I would pay good money for the chance to lie on the swing seat in the garden and doze/read/tablet for a few hours (or the whole day to be honest). I fear it will not be until the kids leave home that I get that pleasure again.

Went to see a potential BTL today, it came on on Thursday and we put in an offer - 8% below asking price as it needs a new kitchen and bathroom and all the rooms redecorated, very unlikely that we will get it though.
    I think....

    .

    I'm outside right now. :).

I can remember my parents spending whole days outside...gardening, dog walking, d.i.y. Reading etc. don't your guys occupy each other some of the time at all?

Wind usually had the benefit of shooing midges away :(. Maybe you should consider planting some insect repellent plants. I know, gardening!

I'm plagued here. There are some tiny "midges" that float together in circles going up and down .... and a wasp who then appears and floats and eats them .... the wasp's already been in this room twice this morning, just had to shoo him back out again and shut the door quickly.

I've also had to shoo out two large buzzy flies....

With the wind and the debris from the tree, the midges, the wasps, fear of furries and spiders getting in - and the big beetle I saw last night and the big mayfly banging against the window the other night ..... I suspect I'll tire of this house 10 years before I expected to!

    Today it's generally overcast.

You could solve that v easily with fly screens. As they aren't that easy to get in this country, you can buy the screen material cut to a size where it overlaps the open frame, then stick on with the double sided Velcro.
