Yesterday DW told me to turn on the hotplate, so I started yelling at it. :)

I hope you have got yours checked out. There was a nasty fire in NY caused by leaving a hot plate switched on.

I've started deliberately leaving my phone at home for certain situations. I'm far too attached to it.

I leave mine in my desk (locked in a staff office, not in a classroom/lab) while I'm at school, but apart from that it's usually with me. I wouldn't want to leave it at home while I was out - it would make the heating stay on when it wasn't needed.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

That'll an interesting 'hobby', Percy. How did you get into that?

Not sure exactly how it happened, I am sure the go to guy for fixing stuff between friends and family. I mostly get laptops with broken screens but some have busted motherboards which are usually not much use to repair.

Other repairs I use to have a lot of was xbox 360s and PS3s, and many DS's with physical damage.

The positive is now I get many broken things given to me which gives many spare parts which can help those in need or if I can fix I can keep/sell, got a 24" iMac in the kitchen (with windows running of course) as a lot of effort to get it going again but not bad for nothing (runs as a TV/Music client from my HTPC).

The charity ZAKA was offering a free service to check them.

ZAKA's own website seems to be down at the moment.

I have a laptop which I reckon could be resurected by adding more ram (P4 3.2 but only 512 and runs too slow if you add xp sp2) but to get to the ram you have to open it up and no one on the internet seems to know how to (or have posted a how to anyway). It is a Medion/cybermaxx. Thoughts?
    I think....

I didn't used to like flip flops 'before'. After they are great. No bending over, no buckles/ backs etc, scuff resistant, forgive misplaced heels.

I did buy some shoes with buckles for this summer ( based on bend over ability hopes) but they look like flip flops, lol.

Buckles are for grown ups I have shoes with velcro so i can manage them all by myself!

Today I am wearing a skirt, it has a zip and a button at the waist band and I dressed myself. I could be cutting down on the elasticated waist outfits that have been my "style " for the last 6 months.

If there is no obvious screws its most likely you need to take the keyboard out, they usually clip in.

You could use #1 SS's method for checking how hot the BBQ was

He was only 6 at the time, and I think he learned an important lesson.
