The 'pride' zone. :D. The 'I can do it' zone. Well done for getting out and knowing a helping hand out of a chair is no bad thing.

Nothing to worry about. My walking is speeding up and my arm has a lot more movement. I can do a lot of activities at waist height and increasingly at chest height. Using both hands I am cooking, preparing veg ( I am very slow) hanging out washing. Most of the time to a casual observer I look normal.

I am however a lot more frail outof my comfort zone. Today I went to the beach. Walking on sand dunes was a challenge and I needed assistance to walk up. I sat in a beach chair and could not get out, requiring an undignified haul out as I still have littleweight bearing in my left arm. I did however walk well on the flat in flip flops.

The beach was shrouded in thick sea mist/fog. the sun could not burn it off and the day got colder, As well as a picnic I had taken a flask of iced coffee which was not required, instead we bought hot chocolate from the beach cafe. The 9 year old with us insisted on putting on her swimsuit and going for a deep paddle. we were not so hardy and after eating lunch We went home and sat in glorius sunshine in the garden.

Glad to hear that recovery continues. :T

I can't use any creams or potions on my skin, my body reacts to every single one of them. Even finding a soap which cleans but doesn't react is fun so my morning routine is a splash of ice cold water with no soap on my face (my face is especially sensitive, soap is never ever allowed near there).
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I potentially have some spare laptop dvd drives (I fix laptops in my spare time).

It is usually quite easy to replace, if I have a suitable spare I am happy to send it for nothing.

On the plus side, the new pills are much more effective. On the minus side I think the pain is moving to new sites. I think the swimming is helping (I'm up to about 1.5 miles a week with an end target of 2-3 miles/week).

I can get the new scan on the weekend and so will get an appointment with the specialist, hopefully next week.

So overall not bad out of ten. I'm in constant pain which wakes me up most nights but it could be a lot worse and indeed has been a lot worse.

On a more dark note, I've been taking mild codeine pills with paracetamol to keep the pain down at night. I just realised yesterday that I don't remember the last time I didn't take a couple at night. I'm going to stop taking them entirely until Mrs Generali's birthday, no matter what the pain unless I am prescribed something because the pain has got that bad. The last thing I need is a codeine habit. I didn't take any last night with no ill effects except a wobbly stomach at 4am (see Trainspotting for what happens when you stop taking opiates). No babies on the ceiling though.

Dion't wander far from a toilet when you give up codeine. For a day or two. It can get a bit dramatic. :o

Awww that is so kind of you Percy. I'll try compressed air in the morning and if that doesn't sort it I'll be very grateful to take you up on that. Thank you so much. :A

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

That'll an interesting 'hobby', Percy. How did you get into that?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    I'm impressed - that's more than I can do!
I do not get on with flip flops.
    They reciprocate.

I didn't used to like flip flops 'before'. After they are great. No bending over, no buckles/ backs etc, scuff resistant, forgive misplaced heels.

I did buy some shoes with buckles for this summer ( based on bend over ability hopes) but they look like flip flops, lol.
