There was something recently (might already have been linked to in discussion on transsexuals/ cross dressing, can't remember) proposing a new title of 'Mx.' for those who want to remain gender neutral.
I have no issues with others people's gender identity or ambiguity, but until a suitable life event I'm a Miss. and not a Ms.
I use miss and mrs. I just never felt ms.0 -

Quoting self
I think my alternative nowadays would be declining title tbh. Gender / status ID ing title is circumnavigatable. Is it the Quakers that use "Friend' I think, if title is demanded ( though use professional titles in practise really)?
This stance would be a change from how I felt a few years ago. However, I still feel very much part of a partnership and that my decisions are not made independently and that does impact on my status. I would not feel that in all relationships, but I do ( gladly) in this one, and thus I feel a title that reflects that status is more accurate than a neutral one. Ultimately I know it means nothing like that to anyone else using it though.0 -

I'm always a Miss.... and when I correct people when they use Mrs or Ms I bet they think "Yeah .... I can tell why"
I just think people don't really think much about it. Too self absorbed mostly.you are probably pretty safe from scrutiny.

Am I the only person who doesn't use a duvet?
Sheets and blankets all the way.
I have sheets and blankets for use when my dad visits.
For me, it's bottom sheet and duvet in cover, with added fleece blanket when cold. I can't be doing with a top sheet in conjunction with a duvet - it always gets tangled up and annoys me.I have no issues with others people's gender identity or ambiguity, but until a suitable life event I'm a Miss. and not a Ms.
I have a friend at work who says, when asked, that her reason for preferring Miss to Ms is because she wants single men to be easily able to identify her as available.lostinrates wrote: »I use miss and mrs. I just never felt ms.
I used Miss until I got married, and then Mrs. Once I became Dr, I only used it professionally, and continued with Mrs where I felt Dr wasn't relevant. After LNE left, I switched to using Dr all the time - as lir says, I've never felt Ms, and now I don't feel Mrs either.
I find that many people are very lazy about getting people's titles right. I've always regarded it as basic courtesy to get people's names, including their preferred title, right if you possibly can. Your name and title are part of your identity. I find it interesting that people have such varied feelings about what they're comfortable with (including the related question of which surname(s) to use for married or formerly married women), and happily make a point of going along with whatever anybody else wants to call themselves. So I find it surprising how often I get, for example, a reply to an email that I've signed "Lydia J (Dr)" that begins "Dear Mrs J". I try quite hard not to let it irritate me, but I don't always succeed.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

This came up a few years back on NP8.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Actually, what avoids me more is use of the word 'gender' when 'sex' should be used. They just did it on the news. Just say it. Sex!0

You found someone in an Apple store who recognised a 3 year old product
What surprised me more was that they had a new 3 yr old ipad to give me as a replacement.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
