I've always had a much better duvet design in mind .... but as I am not of the "invest your own money, get it made, patent it, promote it" type I'll just have to wait until one day everybody realises "Doh - that was SOOO obvious" and "my design" is discovered by somebody else.

My design can be done by a 105 year old small woman with arthritis in under 1 minute. Perfect for everybody: kids, teens, adults who CBA, old people, the disabled, the blind, even those without arms.

Why are duvet covers only open at one end? If they had zips on three sides it would be a doddle.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I still use Mrs and my married name...much to my ex husband's annoyance, he thinks I should change it back and allow his new wife to have sole custody of the name.

I refused, I don't want a different name to the boys and the school would still call me by my married name anyway, so why bother.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

One of my friends is still doing that despite being remarried to a new man with another surname. I gather her kids asked her not to change away from their name.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

What did people think of that Eurovision winner - the bearded lady bloke?

I know....laissez faire and all that....but, it's not a look I hope catches on really.

(Gillette would love it though... cue their laydee-beardee range)
    1. It brought out the disgusting in er teen in me. My parents didn't like the situation, so I did. :o

    2. I have no issue with gender play or different identification. I am just not sure who I am meant to call he or she in some situations ( that's a prime one...with out the beard I would have thought 'she' was wanted, but with the beard it was confusing' ) and do not wish to cause offence. It would be easier if the language has a non gender identifier that was not offensive. :)

    3. It seems to me to be the epitome of Eurovision. If it cannot happen there where can it?

I agree with all of what lir has written and would add...
    1. She's a great singer live. I was at last year's Eurovision and that voice filled the hall.
    2. It won't catch on as its a gimmick. This year the thing I noticed more was Conchita's waist. Must surely be wearing a corset.
    3. Eurovision has become (unofficially) a huge arena for LGBT activists. Those booing Russia last year weren't booing the Ukraine situation as much as Russia's gay rights record. Artists like Conchita make the leaders of countries like Belarus feel v uncomfortable. She gets gay rights on the agenda through the tv set.

I use miss and mrs. I just never felt ms.

When people sign up at the library, they self declare their title. I can't remember the last time a young woman joined and ticked the Ms box.

It's odd that something which 30 years ago was quite liberating is now so passe.

    I googled famous Georgians

    Google has ruined the World.

In the good ole days you could spend hours in the Pub whiling away the time on the 10 famous Belgians quiz.................once you got past Ivo Van Dam, Paul van Himst, Herge and Emil Puttemans you were stuck.

I despair for this planet

I guess we've come a long way in accepting that unmarried (for whatever reason) females can get on in the world...

Tbf I found that in the eighties too. Maybe because I worked in London rather than the sticks. I also worked in creative industries, so it was fine being gay then too.

I agree we've come a long way though!

    A Good Day today (kinda).

I've been forced to give up drinking alcohol for reasons that need not detain us. I think it's fair to say that it's been a partial success over the past few weeks but now I'm on day 4 dry and not really that fussed about having a drink today despite now being the sort of time I'd have one. Or a few. A few, let's face it.

Anyhoo as you guys know I've gone back to the cycling and it's been kinda depressing. I used to think nothing of a couple of hundred km ride and now I'm blowing hard at 20. A farmer once told me that the seeds ain't gonna grow in the packet so I applied the same logic to cycling and did 100kms. Did it in a little over 5 hours which is a dreadful time given the terrain but I made it. It was possibly the least pleasant experience since radiotherapy.

You have to get a lot of sugar down you as fuel when you ride distance (1g of carbs per kg of weight per hour). I'd forgotten that you need to get your stomach used to that and I was sick as a dog. It was horrible. I did 100.6km though and the next time will be easier and the time after that easier still.

Mixed fuels required for the next few rides I think. I'll take some pasta and have a halfway stop perhaps.

Just randomly stumbled across a council house for rent in the small road I grew up in. Now privately owned it's decorated/furnished to a "to let" standard, indeed the old 1970s style gas fire on the wall is even marked in the details as "do not use", so not really modernised. Rent £1150/month. So then I wondered "how much would that be as a council house still?" so set off to find out - and a council tenant living next door would be paying £560/month!

    Qu'elle difference!

To some posters on this forum that would cause major frothing as a huge "subsidy" being offered to the Social Housing tenant, even though there should be no need for a social landlord to make a profit, and that particular property would have been bought and paid for long ago.

How anyone can argue that there is not a huge need for more social housing in this country completely baffles me.
