The opinion polls have been suggesting that labour would get the most seats but the exit poll puts Tories only 10 short of a majority.

It will be one of those 'see what happens' elections.

I was expecting a Tory majority last time and got it wrong, but its currently LD that seem to have taken the biggest hit, with UKIP taking the biggest gain, just not enough to put it in the lead.

We went and voted as a family - there were loads of other families doing the same thing. :)

I enjoyed having children who are now old enough that I can leave them at home and go and vote by myself! :)

@Someone - I'd have gone ballistic. You are absolutely right to complain.

If it's personal data you might be able to threaten a complaint to the Data Protection Registrar. That should concentrate minds.

Agree. Utterly unacceptable. It would be unacceptable even without the advance email, but considering the email, it's staggering. Hope your complaint results in some action being taken.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I went to bed but got up again to seehow the results are going. It is clear they are going slowly and I will go to bed again no wiser. Cannot believe that this process is so manual. there must be some room for secure e-voting at polling stations.

I have had a cup of decaff coffee and a chocolate biscuit. I also put a jeans wash in to tumble dry ( line is full) and put a towel wash on so not a total waste of time.

Time spent with a chocolate biscuit is rarely wasted.

Interesting watching the results come in: looks like there's a small swing from Lab to Con and a huge one from LD to UKIP in England. Scotland was always going to be like this. A strong chance of a clean sweep IMHO for the SNP.

Interesting to see where Labour can go from here: they're too left wing for the English and too right wing for the Scots. It wouldn't surprise me to see the party split in two.

For a while we had a 100% female parliament. Then the 4th result came in.

Morning all. Result still not in yet for here. Glad I didn't stay up now. Rumour is that Milliband will resign by lunchtime.

Vince Cable has just lost his seat to the Tories. ETA... Clegg has just retained his, describing it as a cruel and punishing night for the Lib Dems.

What an exciting night - delighted with national results, shame about Scotland....
