OH is due home from Moscow at about 11 pm. He has a taxi picking him up at 5am to take him to the local airport for a flight to Amsterdam. He will miss voting as he is not home until late Friday pm.

He packed a case for the next trip before he went to Moscow so his plan is that he will come in and go straight to bed. I am poised, in case he has changed his mind and would like a hot drink and some supper. It is entirely selfish on my part as I would lie a few minutes of his company.

Would it not make sense for him to have postal votes ( obviously too late this year)?( fwiw we all often do this, for some reason my postal vote got missed this year so I have to trudge in...its quite interesting if you feel well to pop down to a polling station so....)

Just back. Laughed so hard my stomach hurts (might also be something to do with aerobics at lunchtime). Ended up drinking 3/5 of the limoncelllo we were given. Will be interesting getting up tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Nikks.....and what a gorgeous looking door, much better than mine!

    Thanks, on both accounts :)
In fairness, my old door was awful. It's sat in the front garden at the moment (goes well with the falling down walls...). Over the weekend I'm going to try and pop the glass out of it. At least one pane was held in place with putty only

There's a little-known old law that says a house number must be visible from the street after dark. I think the fine is a shilling..... you clearly remembered it, but thought it meant the END of the street :)

Well, people driving to my house will be distracted by the nearby traffic lights so at least the numbers are easy to spot :)
I picked them because I much preferred the font to any others I'd seen. Didn't realise they'd look so big but don't mind it so much. At least they're better than the black painted brass ones on my old dark stained wood door that no one could see :D

    Happy birthday Nikks.

Spirit, would it not have made more sense to get the Moscow flight on the ex-BMI plane (gets in I think at about 6.30am) then one of the 15 daily connections to AMS?

Or a night in Moscow, then probably the first KLM flight from Moscow?

Just thinking cost-wise, as well as on sanity.

Had an interesting conversation with a letting agent yesterday on behalf of an ex-tenant. Asked if they're qualified to give legal advice, answer was no. I don't think she was too happy to be asked not to do so, then given the correct info on the law......
