sounds like a good plan joe. i haven't looked closely at the non-Amex options yet, but if M&S is a good option for you, great.

i would say yes, there is. i don't want lines of credit on my file which i'm not going to use. and for those that want a credit card, or a non-Amex alternative to back up Amex, then having one that provides some benefits for channeling via the card seems a good idea to me:)

I suppose if anyone has got good value out of the 'concierge' service on the elite card, it might be worth keeping for that, as the letter says nothing about that ending (and yes, I do have my letter now...)

But will that be the simplest way of getting the June cashback sent to your bank account?

I created a poll about the Cap1 card for anyone interested in following :

The simplest way to get the cash back is to spend on the card up until the end of May and the cash back will be deducted from your June bill.

Yes, I expected the last statement date say in May to be used, but the letter is quite clear so for example if you're statement date is the 20th May you could spend the FULL £225 on your Luma 4% (earning £9) between the 20th and 31st May. As long as all transactions were posted, see letter for more details.

That's our last chance to get 4% on Luma folks!

    1) What is the concierge service? Was it for selected customers only or was I just oblivious? I have a black-coloured platinum mastercard which pays 1%, reducing to 0.5% from June

    2) I see that Amex has a Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card, which carries no annual fee and which pays cashback:-
5% cashback during your first three months on up to £2,000 in purchases
After the first three months you’ll earn up to 1.25% cashback, depending on how much you spend on the Card:
Spend £0 to £3,500 and receive 0.5% cashback on that spend
Spend between £3,500 and £7,500, receive 1% cashback on that spend
Spend over £7,501 and receive 1.25% cashback on that spend

This would be MORE than the Cap1 card.....

AspireElite cardholders have access to a Concierge service keiran.

and yes, the Amex card seems a good idea to me. the card i have isn't the 'Everyday', it is a 'Platinum Cashback Creditcard' with terms that pre-date the current version available.

I have an Aspire World and still have not had any notification of changes to my terms.

I can't remember my exact terms, think it was 0.5%, the fee and £10 back.

Really peed off with Europe meddling causing this. We have joint cards and use it for all daily spending and pay off monthly in full, never use out cash card these days. Got £250 last year for nothing.
